cause people discovered that they can roll/Nair out of 1st hit, shield grab if you didn't space well, and other stuff, DD grab is better and opens more for combos and tech chases D:

People still SHDF, and it's still useful to know, you just need proper spacing and if the first one gets blocked/dodged you get punished :p. Needless to say safer approaches have been discovered.

It's decent if you get the hit but stuff like Ken combo won't work against people with decent DI so... yeah.

it's probably because while doing the shdf you are di'ing in the direction you're fairing
in which case you're about to get punished OoS
if you're quick enough to use the Cstick or have enough control over the joystick to fair but remain in relatively the same position you could do it without getting punished i suppose, but then when you do get the fair off since you're not di'ing it's going to be hard to follow up since you'll be in a bad position relative to where the fair juss sent the opponent

Yeah, I remember when everyone loved it. I also remember someone posting a long time ago how you could do SH Fair, Side B, Fair in one SH. Too cool.

you can use the cstick for shdf, its pretty easy. its nice OoS while spacing backwards (for the first hit at least)

i think the real reason marth players dont use it is because of how punishable it is overall. its safer to not commit to a fair and time the attack when they are in range, or choose to not attack if they dont come in range. faster characters (anyone above bottom tier) can bait and punish lag well enough to beat marfs who wiff often.

also: sh fair, dj fair, sideb, fair

Marth's really fast on the ground and really not-so-fast in the air. It's better to just stick to the ground usually. More options and you can follow them up better.

However,

SH F-air -> N-air (first hit) -> grab is too good.

Yea. Aerial to grab is broken.

"Not-so-fast in the air"? Marth's aerials are godly. Just because his grab range is disgusting, his tilts are fast and strong, and his fsmash is OMG doesn't mean that he's lacking in other departments. Marth is just all around OP.
