I was going to make a support thread for DK jr, but found this one in the search.

And I have to disagree with you'll DK jr. could be very orignal and could have a totaly orgianl moveset.

Reasons to put DK jr. in brawl
1. He is a Miyamoto character
2. He is way to retro to look over
3. He had 2 mentions in SSBM, one being his trophy and the other being G & W air Down+A move, so the SSB team hasn't forgotten him.
4. Sakurai like the retro characters

I want to say I am pro-DK jr. AND pro-diddy. Why not have both? mario has a billon characters in there already without wairo. and You guys are only asking really for Diddy.

Here is a moveset I made for DK jr. to prove it's possible to have DK jr. in while not being a clone

Donkey Kong Jr. MoveSet
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B-DK Jr. Attacks with a key.

Up+B DK Jr. does an extra jump and throws a vine upward, if any platform is near by, the vine will attach and he will pull himself back up.

(Atlernate Up+B) - A nitpicker (the bird in DK Jr.) will come and pick DK Jr. up and fly him towards the stage.

Side+B DK Jr. Throws a snapjaw, Nitpicker, or Sparks (Two different Snapjaws red or blue, with the red one doing slightly more).(Two differnt Sparks blue doing slightly more damage then the red). (Two different Nitpickers one that flys forward, and the other flys in a zig zag formation).

Down+B DK Jr. Throws a random fruit (Apple, banana, pear). (Damage varies).

(Alternate Down+B) - DK Jr. does a spin attack with his key, similar to the Ice Climbers down+B.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-DK jr. - does a punch combo.

Up+A DK Jr. - Does a spin attack (similar to DK Up+B doesn't move verticaly, and moves a short distance horizaltaly).

Side+A DK Jr.- He attacks with a vine which paralyzes opponent temporaily.

Down+A - DK Jr. Does a low kick.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Running+A - DK Jr. puts his arms out and stirkes opponent.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Air+A - DK Jr. does a air kick.

Air+Down - DK Jr. Attacks with his key (G & W move. I think DK Jr. should have this move considering its named after him).

Air+Up - DK Jr. Attacks upward with key.

Air+Side - DK jr. Does a spin attack with a key.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Smash up - DK Jr. Attacks with a vine.

Smash Down - DK Jr. Does a slide kick.

Smash Side - Dk Jr. Attacks with a random math symbol.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grab+Up - DK Jr. Cages his opponent, and throws upward. (When you press A, He rattles the cage to harm).

Grab+Down - DK Jr. Cages his opponent, and thrashes the cage to the ground.

Grab+Side - DK Jr. Cages his opponent, and spins the cage around and throws to his left/right.

(ALTERNATE GRAB) - Grab (A throw that works at a distance). DK Jr. Throws out a Snapjaw (holding onto the chain) and the snapjaw bites down on the oppent (When you press A the snapjaw bites harder to cause damage) When he throws he spins the chain and throws the oppenent. which causes the chain to break.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUPER SMASH - DK Jr. Attacks with his key multiple times. He then jumps backwards and barrages his opponent with multiple enemys from his game. DK Jr. then finishes off the move by throwing a cage or barrel at enemy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taunt - DK Jr. Holds up his key in victory.

And anyone that wants DK Jr. in brawl can use the sig I made.

There you go xainfeng, UNDENIABLE proof that DK Jr CAN be unique. Now will you admit?

Prety nice moveset, D3monicWolv3s, but the B move can be a smash/ foward "a" attack and replaced with something a bit more imaginative IMO

Well I was referring to the disrespectiful EAD tokyo. Parrothead if you decide to lurk back in here man you're stupid for thinking DK jr was used more than Diddy.
If you want to say that the current DK is DK Jr, parrothead is right

I hadn't been in this thread for a long long time, but well...

And yes, D3monicWolv3s said an undeniable proof for DK Jr

PS: DK Jr FTW!!!

*sees the furious red-lighted xianfeng eyes*
Well, maybe I won't be in this thread for another long, long time LOL

Well Xianfeng might never see this, because he hasn't logged in since the 16th so by the time he comes back this thread will be old and pushed back.

Thanks for the moveset comments (I didn't get any comments when I posted it in the moveset thread, so much appreciated), Anyways I tried my best to keep him to his roots. What would you suggest for a B move because that was the best I could come up with?

O well it doesn't matter much I am not making the game, and if I could make a moveset for him then they could to.

He probably doesn't have anything else to say. But if he laughes at this, then Miyamoto would laugh at him.

Honestly, I just can't see DK Jr. in 3D. I belive Ness, Ice Climbers, Marth, and Roy were also 2d Characters before SSB, but at least they had a distinct look. IMO DK Jr. would look too much like Donkey Kong. I think Diddy Kong would be much better, and I believe it's more likely that he's to appear on the game than DK Jr.

However I can't say much about DK Jr. because the only time i played his gamesw were on animal crossing! :-)

I think they might just add Donkey Kong Jr., but Diddy Kong and King K. Rool come first. But hey, if they can put Mr. Game & Watch in, Fire Emblem characters in, and Ice Climbers in, then there is a great chance Donkey Kong Jr. could make it in as well. To be honest, I can picture Donkey Kong Jr. perfectly in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, while not looking like Donkey Kong. His fur isn't even the same color as Donkey Kong's, so I don't think he would turn out looking like him, or being like him. I really hope Donkey Kong Jr. makes it in, but if they're only going to add one or two characters to the Donkey Kong franchise, then those spots should go to Diddy Kong and King K. Rool.

I'd like to think the original 14 will always be there.
And Diddy has a MUCH higher chance then DK. Jr. I don't see Sakurai putting DK JR in Brawl.

Why not? Dk jr. had two refrences in SSBM one being the trophy and the other one is G&W
move using the key entitled DK Jr. So he wasn't forgotten by the staff. I can see DK Jr. getting in, but only after diddy.

Well, DK Jr. can't be a costume for DK. He's much smaller than DK, and that changes everything.

However, if he was a costume for Diddy that might be able to work out. It'd still be different though..DK Jr. is fatter than Diddy.

I missed a buttload of replies there but I'm pretty sure people have decided that Diddy's got the favor over DK Jr. ;)

You keep on telling us that GAW's Dair is called DK Jr, but Aerials never got official names... Same goes for tilts and smashes, only the B moves got official names. It might still be a reference to the DK Jr. arcade though, but it's not named after DK Jr.

DK Jr. could be a costume for Diddy, but only limited... The character would still be Diddy, but he'd wear DK Jr's shirt and wear no cap.

Basicly all that I know that has happend was, Diddy is being favored here, I made a moveset for DK Jr. and there was the rubbing it in towards xianfeng because he said DK jr. couldn't be orginal or different... and thats about it...

Well I have seen the name appear many times online, and in strategy guides, and each time it was called DK jr. and because Dk jr. was a G&W game that does make since, and DK jr. whole goal in the game was to get the key to free his dad.

And his move green house was named after the G&W game green hous and oil panic was named after oil panic, so if its not official its preety much logic.

Whoops sorry about the double post guys...

Right here with you... in your heart.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the current DK just a grown up DK junior? I always thought that Cranky Kong was in fact the original DK, based on his rambings from the DKC games.

Also, why would we want to see DK jr. in Brawl again? I never really bought into the whole gorilla-in-a-unitard look. Kinda lackluster, y'know? It's just another bad fashion throwback from the days of pantless lead characters.

The Current Donkey Kong?

British company Rareware used Donkey Kong Jr. as the basis of their Donkey Kong Country series for the Super NES and Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. According to that series, Donkey Kong Jr. is the current Donkey Kong and his father, Cranky Kong is the original Donkey Kong from the arcade game. Although Nintendo has never outright denied this, it hasn't been mentioned since they sold Rare to Microsoft. This has sparked controversy within the Donkey Kong fanbase as to whether or not DK Jr. is the current Donkey Kong or not. ~Wikipedia

And from what I hear Nintendo messed up the donkey kong time line in (correct me if I am wrong) donkey kong konga (or jungle beat or something...)

Dude DK jr was a 3D trophy in melee, I can easily see him in brawl, and they can pretty much give him some details on his clothes so he can look more unique...

Diddy Kong (member), Nintendo officially named every move, and posted them in the official SSBM player's guide.

And not only Mr. G&W's Green House move represents Green House, but it also represents the G&W version of Donkey Kong 3, where Stanley and Donkey Kong both used a spray can.

Personally, I would have preferred DKjr over Diddy, but still, popularity says otherwise. Not to mention Jr would have a rather limited moveset because he didn't make an appearance in many games.

At least DK Jr. APPEARED in Melee!

But yeah, you've got a point there...

I mean, DK Jr. Math?!

He appeared in Mario Tennis (N64), although Waluigi might use more Tennis-like manuvers.

Rofl yeah SSBM credit, anyways I was able to make a moveset for DK jr. without even using Mario tennis. and only one move based on dk jr. math. So its possible

my attempt at a moveset

Nice moveset. The Key ones a good idea, seeing as Mr. G&W's "DK Jr." attack was a key.
Yeah, and because it wasn't something diddy could use... that I know of...
plus is was different... sora watch out there is a new keyblade master
Anyways I made that moveset in December so its old.

Kinda late but:

Yes DK Jr. is the Current Donkey Kong. Nintendo themself never mentoined anymore, but it was mentoined in DK's Mario Super Baseball that he was the son of the legendary ape who fought Mario, or something like that lines.

The thing that screwed up the whole Donkey Kong time line is Yoshi's Island DS (hehe funny I was thinking getting this game today) because both Baby Mario and Baby Donkey Kong appear in there and they are apperantly the same age.

Wow, I go to Costa Rica for a week, and this topic gets revived:dizzy:

True it never got an official name, but G&W's moves are usually called what game they're based after by some fans (like his down air being from the game DK Jr., for example)

or something like that lines.

Yeah, I was hoping DK as DK Jr. would be in it, but it's a small DK 9with the same sized head) and a diaper. oh, and it's fun, I reccomend Yoshi's Island DS

I have to agree with McFox on Diddy Kong instead of DK Jr., even though DK Jr. could be pretty awesome on SSBB. But Diddy kinda has become a trade mark for Nintendo. If you don't trust me, I'm 90% sure his hat has Nintendo right on it.

Thats sorta true. For promotional DKC pics, he had the Nintendo logo on his hat, but in the game, it didn't

Yeah I will have to agree...

Anyways I know that Yoshi Island DS messed with the DK timeline but wasn't there another game? having paulina show up in march of the minis probaly didn't help the mario timeline either... imo... but I thought I heard something about another game....

Yeah, Yoshi's Island DS screwed up the theory of DK Jr. being the current DK, although Nintendo doesn't support this notion (it was originally Rare's idea, and we all know what happened to Rare...)

Yeah, I guess its possible to see DK jr. , but I don't think Nintendo will ever explain this donkey kong stuff. If I rember correctly the DK jr. trophy said nothing about being the current DK so I guess they could ignore the whole DK theory set up by rare, if they choose so.

IMO, Donkey Jnr and Diddy Kong both are a waste.

We've already got one Kong, and the possibility of a badguy (King Krool) coming in, so why an extra? Diddy would basically be a DK clone, maybe one or two different moves, but really, I think they're are more useful/deserving characters than them.

I don't mind Diddy being in Brawl, but I think there's a lot of other potential characters that would be more fitting for it.
