With every iteration of Smash there are characters I know and don't know. In 64 I knew characters like Pikachu and Mario, but didn't know who Samus, Ness, or Falcon. I fell in love with the characters though. So far this has continued with every new game. I personally understand Smash will have a blend of characters that I love and characters I will love soon. I put no because the roster will win me over every time.

Only to the most extremes. If they cut half of the previous characters and added a bunch of characters I hate, I'm not going to buy the game. But for the most part I don't really care.

Idon't understand why people believe that the characters in the roster are so important. Almost every unprofessional (professinal meaning GameXplain, Machinima, Shokio etc.) gamer who plays smash ONLY makes videos about the characters. What about the mechanics, stages, speed, gameplay, and much more? I would be fine if only the original 12 were in. I really don't give a crap if a character I really want is not in the game (King K. Rool). I will buy the game no matter what.

Not really. I wouldn't not buy a game just because a character I wanted isn't in. After all, I'm aware of the chance of characters I want not making in.

There are already many characters in the game that make me buy it, since I've played many different Nintendo games.

No, Smash Bros will always be my favorite game. I know the roster will always have the main Nintendo characters which is all I really need.

Yes and no. I know I'll get a Wii U and the game eventually, but if some of my beloved characters aren't in it (Jigglypuff, mostly), I won't have this "NEED IT NOW", thus delaying my purchases.

Roster isn't a big to me. If ridley gets in it does make me question if i really want it but gameplay is more important.

As long as there's just ONE character I really like and isn't garbage to play with, that's all I need. After that, it's just game mechanics and the game putting on a fun show that matters.

As long as basic characters are there, I'm fine. Don't really care for flashy characters.

At this stage of the game no. It is looking more and more like my main from brawl will be cut, and I am not interested in any of newcomers really. But I still plan to buy the game the day it comes out.

My favorite character in Smash Bros is Toon Link. I hate playing as Toon Link.

Characters don't make a game, gameplay does. I found myself playing a lot of R.O.B. (my least favorite character)

No. There will always be a character I enjoy playing. The gameplay and engine are really what matter in my opinion. If the game said "Smash Bros." on the box but didn't play like Smash Bros, that would be a deal breaker.

I'm a hypocrite when it comes to this stuff. Regardless, I'll buy it, but characters like Pewdiepie or that penguin from Happy Feet get in that'll be a no.

Hey guys,

The answer is no way! I'm buying Smash Bros regardless. Though I'll do you all the favor and reveal the final roster since I already know who's in and who isn't.

We have 33 characters confirmed for Smash 4. Sakurai is going to have 50 playable characters for the latest installment of his beloved series. I assure you, THIS LIST is dead on.

Alright, here we go: The original 12 from SSB1 will be in the game. So we're still getting... CAPTAIN FALCON, NESS, and JIGGLY PUFF. (3 more)

These next guys premiered in Melee and have become staples to the series. FALCO, GANONDORF, GAME & WATCH, and ICE CLIMBERS. (4 more)

Also, we'll get META KNIGHT and WARIO. The two most obvious picks from Brawl. (2 more)

We'll also get WOLF, but they reworked his moves a bit more to separate him from Fox and Falco. MEW TWO is in guys! This is to please the fans, and because he's way more relevant now in the Pokemon universe. (2 more)

These next three are Nintendo-owned newcomers: CHROM, SHULK, and the CHORUS MEN. Check the info on these guys out. They're gonna be wonderful additions. (3 more)

These two are third-party. The first of them is none other than SNAKE. He's coming back everyone! And this last one is not only a third-party but also a new comer... *drum roll*... RAYMAN! Yep, Sakurai put him in. That's five third-party reps in total: Making up 10% of the roster. (2 more)

The last one... RIDLEY. Deal with it. He's in guys. Sakurai loves the fans. (1 more)

Well, there it is. That's the confirmed 33 plus the 17 = Total of 50. If they're not on THIS LIST, they're not playable. That's a FACT! Yes, R.O.B. is cut. Sorry...
Absolutely "everyone" on this list will be on the Super Smash Bros 4 roster.

P.S. ---- Dark Pitt is an alternate costume for Pitt. Lucas, Dr. Mario, and Roy are alternates for Ness, Mario and Marth. No Pichu or Young Link or the remaining forbidden seven unfortunately (cuz I really wanted Dixie Kong).

Who am I? The American JEDI.
SSB for LIFE!!!

No. Because I always think gameplay > roster. Sure, it's a big part, but it certainly does not make or break my decision to buy the game.
Besides, I love me some oddball obscure characters. It keeps the roster more unique this way.

No. It's superficial and shallow to cry foul based on one character making it or not making it - I'm here for the gamewide improvements.

I'll buy every Smash game regardless.

However, characters are what got me into the series, and are mostly why these games hold my soul for such a very, very long time with each installment. And as such, I very much care about getting characters I love.

However, this game has more than satisfied me. It gave me Mega Man on day one, and it gave me Rosalina, my favourite Nintendo character, whom I couldn't believe had risen to stardom like that. And then I got Palutena, and in a roundabout way I got Reggie Fils-Aime. I still want Professor Layton, but there will be no hard feelings if he doesn't make it.

At this point, the variety in modes as well as the online experience decide whether or not this game is better than Brawl as an overall game to me. And it's core fighting mechanics will decide whether or not I enjoy playing it competitively over Melee.

Nah, as others said - the gameplay makes or breaks the game. The metagame will most likely be entirely different and even in a casual point of view there's new stages and features that add an extra flavour to the game. The best thing about Smash is, no matter who's on the roster, the game will always change and that alone is worth getting the game. Every game is unique in its own right.

It also probably helps that I've played (and adored) most of the franchises represented in Smash in the past or present., meaning there's very little characters I actually want in as newcomers. Funnily enough Jigglypuff is actually a character I don't care much for at all in the games when I played them as a youngster, but she's my main in 64 and Melee, and secondary in Brawl.

Even if by some chance both Wolf and Jigglypuff don't make it, that would simply mean I'll have to try someone new. And you know what? I'd relish that. (Of course I'll try out everyone anyway and I'd like to have those two around regardless)

If Smash bros was made by Playstation and had all of the Playstation characters, I probably would not buy it, even if it had the same mechanics as Smash bros. On the other hand, I WOULD buy a Playstation All-Stars with the Smash Bros cast in it. I've been first and foremost a Nintendo fan, and I simply got lucky that a game with all my favorite characters happens to be a good one.

I honestly think "how do the characters effect your experience?" would be a much better question, since, let's face it - the vast majority of us will buy the game regardless. Even if we get no new characters we love, we have our old favourites, and we will likely enjoy the game enough, even if not from a competitive standpoint. And even it were terrible, we'd buy it out of curiosity.

Not at all also I really like the roster and all the new comers so far. Also I would still buy it even if I did not like the roster.

I'm not a fan of the current confirmed roster, for some reason. There are a ton of unconfirmed vets, which makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable.

Also, regarding clones. I really hope that they revamp Ganondorf if he's included at all, because he deserves so much better than to just be a C. Falcon clone. He's had plenty of final boss forms where he's been 'Ganondorf' instead of just 'Ganon', and there's a ton of potential for him as a sword user with projectile specials.

It would make me sad if he was just going to be a clone forever just because he was one of the characters who was rushed in Melee. There's plenty of time to redefine him in Smash 4.

I will probably like and buy the game no matter what happens, though. I wouldn't say I was completely happy with things, but I'll probably warm up to the different characters sooner or later.

The characters don't matter. Sure it is fun to have lots of characters I like but I will play it as long as it doesn't play like trash and the newcomers aren't things like Shrek.
