Does anyone still play the actual 64 version?

I do

Well i do keep on playing it.
In fact, today i played a match with a friend of mine for a N64 control. He was kriby and i was Link, 5 lifes. I won =]. Now i got 4 controls.
Indeed, i play the wii version on weekends, as a friend has it and we love it, but the N64 one offers things the new doesnt. The n64 one is a totally different game, characters are heavier but faster at the same time, meaning that once you are far from the platform, your done.
It induces players a constant state of peril, so you are more aware and keaner, on the trajectories and striking just in the right time.
The new one, though i like it, is more about using correctly the tons of flashy moves you get, so its less chalenging in a way.

By the way... how do i play online? I still play on my N64

The game is only as challenging or as easy as your opponent.

Granted, tech skill makes a much bigger difference in this game - technically, if you can combo perfectly, once you have a hit you've won a stock. In Brawl it's not quite like that...

Either said person is very stupid or the N64 doesn't work ~_~
Or the SSB64. LE GASP!

I say stupid. It's a kid in school. Who doesn't know the value of what he has. Such deliciousness will be mine <3. Or Pot. He wants Pot.

I'd "pirate" it for VC but I'd feel dirty about that, and I don't know if Ninty's next patch will fry your Wii if it's not in your VC account. So I'm saving 1000 Wii points for it, which pisses my brother off because he wants Megaman 9. Even then Ninty's gonna go on the Brawl train as long as they can.

just to wonder, how does mupen 64 have less lag than the n64.....doesn't really make sense to me
it has less lag because people belive the "fps" thing that keeps track of the frames...it says its at 60fps most of the time...but ive seen it go through obvious lag..and not move from 60...

it lags less because Mupen has a faulty "fps" reader

Of course the emulator, in this case Mupen, has less lag than N64. He said Mupen64 and not mupen64k, so maybe you haven't used the version he is talking about. There are at least 3 different major versions of Mupen64. I know the version I use has nothing wrong with it's fps display.

This depends on your computer specs and which graphics plugin you use.

You can test easily by playing a 4 player battle on N64 with many items, and then playing the same battle using a good graphics plugin and fast computer. The N64 will slow down, where as the PC version will not.

the bomb trick works for this

All 4 players be Link, then as soon as the match starts, everyone pull out a bomb...see what happens on console

dang i'm old school. i still have yet to play on an emulator. i only do console. i fear i'm gonna hate the way it handles. i'm so attached to the 64, even when it comes to the other smashes in the series. i played melee once, hated it. and i've never played brawl. i stick to being great at only a few things, which remains in the classic smash (ADDICTED). i downloaded the emulator though, but now i need to get a usb adaptor for the controller. soooo maybe eventually i'll hop online.

Even the emulator can't give the feel of the 64. Its not the same framerates i feel.. gotta make some kind of gathering of the n64 junkies.....that would be awesome.

I only play the 64 when my anti comes over. She's one of the retro game lovers, heck she still play Super Mario Bros. 3 even though she beat the game countless of times.

bi-weeklies are now for brawl, I suggest you come over to my place and bring your 64 with 2 controller and we can have fun with another member called krewman.
Sure! I've been dying for some SSB64 lately. I have 4 controllers so we can all play on console. Just let me know when you're free and I'll be there.

Yes, I still play on the 64 version, though I am trying to homebrew it on the Wii.

I'm currently in Kingston ontario, which isn't too far from Montreal. If enough people want to get together, we could organize a smash session and meet up on an upcoming weekend, and play countless hours of smash64!

Myself and a few others I've recruited around here play 64 on console
Best way to play, no doubt!

I got an N64 to USB adapter but it works TERRIBLY, so for online I use an xbox360 controller which is actually fairly good for smash64.
