hey, although i developed my own personal style of shiek, I find that many people are scarily similar to kdj's shiek.. anyone else think that way too?

does anybody else base their sheik off of KDJ's shiek used in the NYC tourny?

Well kdj's sheik is amazing, it just seems like it i dont know, brawl's playing styles are different

Not really, I just copy everyone I see who uses sheik and try to add what I see into my own style.
Although even so I still have a lot of my own little tricks that I notice people I fight regularly steal from me ...and then use against me T_T

Yeah, I did when I started off. I already liked Sheik, and KDJ was my favorite smasher in Melee... Watching KDJ vs Compton helped me main Sheik cuz she's funner than Dedede.
His old videos were barely after the game's release, though. His play style back then is not nearly up to snuff compared to the current Sheiks.

thats exactly how I did it too, I was at the first location (worcester, ma @ wpi college) where he made it through the first tournament, it snowed like a banshee the night before and I splet on the floor just to get a spot.

Beautiful sheik. Very good a stringing together attacks. I really like how aggressive he is.
I must say though, if you watch closely, it seems his spacing needs some more attention. Maybe it's just that video though...

well the truth about kdjs shiek is that he doesnt main with shiek at all, i will not say who he mains with since im trusted with that knowledge, but shiek was a spur of the moment decision and he laughs about it... he doesnyt like using shiek anymore and he prefers melee to anything (obviously lol)

Yeah, he was playing with my friend tyler, who modded the wii (much like i did) to play japanese brawl

i miss the japanese version, there were some differences, like in the *** version, pikachus thunder can go through platforms, where as in the US version they cannot

??????? Pit sounds +9000!!!!111!1111!1!1! times better in japanese O_O IMO atleast. Wasnt he voiced by the voice of detective conan? Thats what I've heard. I wish my game had japanese voices T-T *sobbing*

Whoever he was voiced by in the american version needs to have their vocal chords cut.

I've been to tournaments with KDJ in them for the past few months... the character I see him use most is random box... Sometimes he pulls out a Metaknight when he is getting for-serious.

yeah nowadays he uses random because he can... metaknight is top tier thats why he uses him... metaknight was his main since god knows when... to think tho... ill find a way to break metaknight, then the argument about metanight banning will finally cease.

I just played a self-proclaimed "Sucky metaknight"
He seemed better than sucky. Not godly, but definitely not sucky.
Anyway, from what I gathered, MK seems to have trouble being attacked from underneath and to the side. The ends of his moves seem to have less priority too. I believe great spacing and timing is the only way to get around him. As Zelda he can be somewhat easily gimped, but you have to know how to position yourself to get sweetspots at just the right time. (Some time during his Up B. I think the middle. Maybe just after the beginning.)
Shooting single needles simultaneously can stunt his approaching ability, since he has to come at you from the air, thus opening himself to your attacks. F-smashes and U-smashes (again, well timed) seem to work best.
Running right at him with a barage of attacks does NOT work like it does with larger characters. You need to be an opportunist and predict an opening. Setting them up is somewhat hard.
I definitely found him easier to approach/counter as Sheik, even though she has stunted priority and his is godly.
Please note, this is the first time I have ever played an MK, and the third time I have ever played a serious one on one. my information may not be as reliable as someone more experienced. Nevertheless, when I realised these things and put them into my game, I would say there was a considerable evening out of odds. From 3 stocks to tiebreakers to wins.

at first I didn't understand the relevance of this post, then it hit me... this is quite useful.... now if only my sheik could actually beat a pro metaknight...

There IS a way to easily gimp him. Well, "easily"...
I am sure of it. I just can't figure it out. There's a point in his recovery where you can make it with an attack.
