I seldom see any Dairs used in matches before. But is there a good way to use it? Also, off topic-ish but do I have to Lcancel a double jump Fair/a Full hop Fair? Last question, is it possible to walljump the ledge in FD? I've seen it before but it could be a tech instead. Thanks!!

Mostly for platform tech chase.

It can also be used OoS if you think a space animal is coming in from the ground (with dash attack, grab, etc) and you're shielding and you don't want to Nair / Fair / WD back / do normal stuff for some reason.

It depends on how you're timing the Fair for the double jump / FJ DFair stuff. But you can do it so they autocancel on the FJ DFair and the instant DJ DFair if you do the Fairs early enough.

It is possible to walljump with Sheik.

This.

I have been toying with it and I like its usefulness when you use it out of shield vs shield pressure and don't really fast fall it. The timing is weird and throws people off and everyone tries to shield grab it.

I also use it against Marth / Sheik when they upb on the stage with hella lag.

I just ledgedash past an opposing Sheik / Marth if they land on the stage and then grab them and they're usually screwed harder than anything I could do with Dair but sure why not.

I mean, I don't see why it wouldn't work. DI sometimes screws my follow though depending on the percent and stage and whatever.

Because at higher percents they can DI out of your grab and make following up a pain in the ***.

They can DI out of the dair too but it happens less often v good players in my experience, and when they are good enough to DI the grabs and dair properly I just fair or get on and dsmash them off.

punishing them recovering onto the ledge? reverse fairs all dai

i like dair for platform tech chasing sometime, although i've been known to use it instead of ftilt when there's a floating spacie in front of me...whatever works, i guess.

KK posting

Using Sheik's massive grab range you can suck them in closer to the stage to avoid stuff like that.

Dair has many issues. Magus teching, simple DI, etc. Obviously it works, decently enough for it to be a good strategy, I just think spacing ledgedash grab renders it almost entirely obsolete.

I like to use dair occasionally when I hit somebody and they tech. for example, if I downthrow and then jump, my opponent usually techs in place so then they can punish me for jumping, but then I just down air and it leads to a good combo. I don't really know a lot, but I like throwing in a dair once in a while to switch it up

I don't follow this train of logic...... but, sure?

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like almost everyone uses Dair. About the walljump thing, of course Sheik can walljump... but it never works for me in FD on the ledge, it isn't possible is it?

Uh, you can walljump off of any wall. Even Battlefield. I'm not sure if you could walljump off of like DK64 though.

Meh, it seems to me any situational time where you could use D Air effectively, there would be a normal option that works just as well or better. I really just use it as a random mixup.

u can chain dairs on fox survival DI.

on FD after a mid percent launcher (dash attack, dair, weak usmash, utilt) i have gotten 3-4 dairs on scrubby fox/falcos. 1-2 on people who DI away. into a fair of course.

useful if u are in the middle of a big stage and want to get more damage before finishing.

These also ladder up platforms, similar to that drephen clip, but on middleweights it is an actual combo as opposed to a tech-chase.

As far as an approach...its situational. always cross over shields, never land in front.

ok I found this thingy out with dair. If you are against a space animal who is above 100%(gets up slowly), and you grab them, dthrow, and they don't tech, you can tell if they are going to get-up attack from the early parts of the animation. That is when I do a dair. Since they are at above 100%, it pops them up the perfect distance for a fair or something
