nope, it doesn't make any sense and there's no clear reason why they've suddenly launched such a focused effort across all regions except japan to take down the video

Okay, I dug around in Wikipedia's list of Directs... and the results are:

* Both the August 2018 Indie Highlights (EU) and Nindies Showcase (NA) are up and available.
* However, the Indie World Showcase August 2019 video that Wikipedia links to is private. However however, Nintendo's upload of the showcase is still up. This is the Indie World showcase with Ori, mind. Edit: Looking through this page with Wayback consistently showed either a privated video, or outright errors. May be that the Wikipedia editors got a private version or something else.
* The Indie World Showcase August 2020 is up and available.

Conclusion: I have no ****ing clue what to make of this.

Especially considering it's only this video. As far as I can tell and have heard, there aren't any other Nintendo videos that have been taken down like this.

Whatever happens, this might be one of the most interesting things to have happened in a while since this came straight out of nowhere. Even if it doesn't result in anything... hoo boy it's gonna get kinda wild until this gets resolved one way or the other.

It's really weird that they messed with that one direct for seemingly no reason. I have no clue what to make from it except that it does feel like a good time for an indie direct. That's my gut feeling. I think it's too soon for another general direct.

Am doubting whether there is enough content to justify a “Final Smash Direct” like we had for Bayo and base games, what with there only being one character left and the height of extra content this year being Smattlefield versus three characters and their respective stages to break down and two of those being revealed.

But yeah we could get “Sakurai reveals CP11” on a random summer day soon and be done with it without the involvement of a Nintendo Direct

If they have other non-character content to show with it, like a potential three stage standalone pack I’ve been proposing or a WoL expansion or something they can well fit that there too and make it good enough to stand alone

aren’t Sakurai presents basically smash directs with a name change. If we can get a sakurai presents which is 40 minutes long with only the character and it’s costumes shown off then I’m sure we can get a smash direct.

True, we forget that Byleth was revealed in the same Sakurai Presents that talked about them.

Steve too, but there was a couple day gap between his reveal and his presentation, as opposed to Byleth where they were both in the same video.

Honestly I don't think simplicity has much bearing on how much time is spent on a character's moveset since he's delving into the use cases for each attack rather than just explaining the more unique attacks.

Whatever the reason is, in reality, it's unlikely to be meaningful in terms of the next announcement or Direct. Not the least of which is because that date this year is a Sunday.
