So, I have been hearing rumors that the backroom was discussing banning dark samus on congo jungle due to her blending in very well with the background. I disagree with this ban. everyone knows samus is the worst character in this game, so, why can't she have an advantage at something, in this case camouflaging well in congo jungle? i don't see kirby's utilt being banned anytime soon, or pikas upb. if we, or rather, the backroom, goes about banning everything that doesn't seem "fair" or right, smash 64 wouldn't be what it is; a great game. i would like to hear the rest of the community's opinion on this and not just the backroom's.

The backroom hasn't discussed banning dark samus, or any character on Congo.

Some people just threw out the fact that certain character colors are annoying to play against on Congo.

Step away from the ledge brochacho.

How about...dont listen to anyone telling you about the BR.

If it's a BR member telling you about things that are happening you should report them asap (although i cant see it happening).

This thread should be fine to debate if you think the color should be banned on dark stages or not though...just dont take what the OP says about the BRoom too seriously.

Dont think we need to be worried about this. If the Backroom wants to be taken seriously they are going to come up with better things than banning dark samus on congo. If a character actually should get some advantage it would be her. But its not a big problem anyway.

this thread is stupid. you're trying to make it sound like its a real advantage when it just makes her harder to see and makes the game more annoying. i dont understand why even compare it to banning moves/characters (which would have way more of an impact on the game than banning a ****ing color).

banned or not i still don't play against dark samus/falcon on congo. =P

Actually iirc there is a rule pertaining to colors in either the melee or brawl rule set. It's something like if someone is color blind they can request certain colors.

Are you playing on a computer or on a TV? It's not that bad on a computer but TVs are often dimmer.

Also lol it's not like dark samus has been the focal point of the back room's discussions.

Dreamland should be banned. It's too bright for my eyes and I can't concentrate on that stage.

And I must confess that playing against a dark Samus on Congo is pretty annoying too.

Playing dark characters on Kongo won't be banned in the recommended ruleset, which I'm drafting...slowly...I'll probably add something about changing your colour upon opponent's request (if they intend to counterpick Kongo or anticipate that it'll be the first one played).

To be honest it's not that big a problem, especially in a dark room, but it can be an annoyance, and isn't something necessary. If Dark Samus buffed something or other it'll definitely not be banned, but as it stands it's like saying your opponent should downgrade their graphics plugin when vsing Samus so the charge shots are invisible.

This is ridiculous. Straining your eyes to be able to see dark characters on Kongo should not be a SKILL that is a factor in tournaments. I personally have no issue seeing dark characters on Kongo, but I'm not going to be an *** about it. You want CAMOUFLAGE to be a character's advantage? Seriously? That's how you want to win, not because through you being legitimately better than your opponent, but because he couldn't see? And we said the rule was going to be the other player can REQUEST another color if they have trouble seeing, not a straight-up ban. Oh, and Samus may be the worst character in the game, but this can also apply to things like DK's and Falcon's dark colors. Way to focus on only your main, because you clearly would do anything to win. Do you support the use of Ritalin, too?

Omg why would anyone even think about this. Shouln't get banned because cmon there has Never been any color banning in any smash bros so why should we?
Wrong. In BOTH of the other Smash games, color blind people can request certain team colors if it's an issue, and even if they're not color blind sometimes, if it's a case in which it's hard to tell the team (e.g. Sonic and Lucario always look blue-ish so it can be hard to tell). Clearly, the Melee and Brawl communities understood that the ability to distinguish colors and see camouflaged characters should not be a factor in a player's skill level, LOL. Just like, we banned items because luck should not be a factor.

P.S. Way to throw ballin4life under the bus, Darth, since we all know that you two are buddies and he was against the Backroom being closed to the public, so now everybody is going to suspect ballin4life of breaking the promise of confidentiality, even if he wasn't the one who did it. What a nice thing to do to your friend, when you could have simply waited for the BRoom to release its ruleset and argue about it there - rules can be changed, you know. Maybe you should have thought for half a second before making this thread.

I agree with Star King in that beating someone should be done by skill, not because a player could not see their opponent properly. As aa said, being hard to see is not necessary, and can be changed easily.

As for the rest of it I'm not getting involved.

QFT sorry if it seems harsh but its 100% true and kinda bugs me considerably...

Ima close this thread lest worse arguments break out. I think we can all understand this thread has run to its end
