Have no power at my home and all connections are dead. Neighborhood is a mess with downed poles and open ended wires sprayed about front yards. For poles that aren't downed, several of them are leaning at angles resulting in tangled and frayed lines. Some trees were uprooted completely from the ground due to the storm resulting in them being sprayed about yards and streets. There is no sign of repair or rescue workers coming at all to our neighborhood within the past 48 hours (aside from firemen) and expect our home to have no power for the next couple of days, if not the entire week.

Few gas stations and restaurants were open on the way to New York. One of the few gas stations open had a waiting line several miles long. The people in it likely will wait three to four hours before getting to the pump. Few restaurants were open in New Jersey, however an increasing amount opened up as we got closer to the city. The most significant sign that no power will be coming soon is the fact that traffic lights themselves are still out throughout all parts of local New Jersey and also throughout significant parts of New York. Currently in New York: power, phone, and internet lines are all open.

House remained unscathed and basement is not flooded. Neighbor's house unfortunately had a tree fall down breaking their deck in half and the skylight to their house. However occupants are fine. Structural damage to houses for most people in the surrounding area remains more or less minimal asides from a couple of houses on fire due to downed wires (firemen did arrive). Most problems involve fallen trees landing on the streets or yards and downed wires on houses or nearby houses leaving electrical hazards and the vicinity without power for awhile.
