um to be hoenst none

town are neat and communicating and when you survive a few days you learn to trust those and come up brillently with plans so it feels like a rag tag group comign together through misunderstandings

mafia is awesome being deceitful and tricking people and mastermind and lineing peopel up like puppets while you and the small group watch eachothers backs

and third parties look so awesome to be, haven't been one yet

so, don't really got a preference

What is your experience level with mafia,

casual pretty much

pretty familar with mafia, but not really an active seeker, played some ToS, and some irl mafia games so ya pretty familar, still casual

and why did you choose mafia?

by complete accident lol

i was on a discord server with white and he plopped down a link and i clicked it cause katt clicks every link that i'm given and just wound myself up there by complete accident

liked the idea if i didn't play fourm mafia before that day so i signed up and stuck around, glad i did, the four games i participated in were hella fun~

For sure. The important question is, what alignment do you prefer and why?

Probably mafia over town, because cooperation and information means I have some idea of what's going on. At the same time it can be more stressful because since as town there's only so much you can control and as a result I relax a bit and let things play out, but as mafia that sense of humility doesn't exist and as such neither does the rest that comes with it.

Third party might be the best though. On one hand, it can cause me to not give a **** about what's going on. But it also means I can focus on myself and not worry about anyone else. Ideally it's a balance between the feeling of being town (lax) and mafia (assertive).

What is your experience level with mafia, and why did you choose mafia?

Years, but it's not the kind of mafia you guys play. Days/Nights are short, roles are more crazy no doubt, and players are probably more laid back (for better and worse).

I chose mafia because I have a hard on for intrigue and death game set-ups.

For sure. The important question is, what alignment do you prefer and why? What is your experience level with mafia, and why did you choose mafia?

In general I tend to prefer being town over being mafia due to it being less stressful. When you're town you're less likely to need a safe fakeclaim and, if need be, you can just alter your existing role in some way (if you are in a situation where giving out your townie role isn't a good idea). There's also less pressure to keep your team safe, as a townie only has a vague idea of what their team is, while a Mafia member has full knowledge. Less things to keep track of, and easier to track your own personal performance and have fun.

I've been playing forum-based Mafia games on and off since about 2010, when I played some of my first games on the Bulbagarden forums. It's also where I ran my first game, Lawn Mafia, where everyone was a different lawn ornament trying to fight back against the Mafia (which consisted of teenage vandals trying to break the lawn decor). Then I brought Mafia to the Community Hangout group here on Smashboards and played over twenty games with folks there, including a few more that I ran. After a Mafia hiatus of about a year and a half or so, Swamp revived our style of Mafia games by bringing them to the NintenZone, and we played about ten or so games (including one more I hosted) before coming here.

And I just started playing it way back when because it seemed fun, it was my summer vacation, and I was a bored teenager. It just stuck with me ever since.

I've known irl Mafia variations for years(never called them Mafia though lol) but the social group was my first experience with it on a forum.
Personally, I like being Town better. I'm a terrible liar, even though I liked deceiving people the one time I was scum, it always made me too stressful. Also, as a fan of detective stories, I have a thing for mysteries and I consider scumhunting one.

Not at all. You'd be hard pressed to find a longtime member of DGames that is entirely business (Xatres and Dastrn are probably the closest you'll get, but they're more just trying to analyze every aspect of play).

Yeah, editing one post typically equates to one modvote. It's not only frowned upon to edit, it's against the rules here. Double and triple posting is fine by everyone in this section of SB, and an edit by way of posting (EBWOP is commonplace.

I prefer town. I like the freedom of it, and I'm bad at lying. I can't even lie to my own mother. I like solving the mystery, solving the puzzle. Finding and killing mafia is a thrill. Being mafia, on the other hand... gives me guilt. Agree with town being much less stressful. Being town gives me energy to post naturally. As mafia I have to try to find energy from else where because my motivation is little.

My favorite role is mason. I like talking and bouncing ideas, with confirmed town even.

I play mafia because I was dragged into it by X1-12 and then I ****ing loved this ****. Ever since 2011 I have been playing this damn game.

I have so many games I have played I have lost count. Still pretty much active, just off site.

That's pretty much it.

Also, I just realized I'm pretty much the only person left from the Revival of DGames era boom... Zalek, Koops, TSYK, GreenReaperGod, Rosalina, GenericHandle, Moosey, and whoever else I'm forgetting are all gone. Also also, I just realized that was three years ago as well.
