As far as I know most of us have ours reserved at Valley West because thats where the tournament is going to be (I'm not sure anyone is actually going to play now since you have to use the Wiimote now).

Well, I'm coming back to Des Moines Melee - at least for a few months to make sure I'm not rusty for college. Plus, we need all the players we can get.

So, an idea to the Melee players - are there enough of us to justify our own weekly Smashfests?

I don't really think we'd have a problem getting enough people to come. I know we have at least eight people or so that are active, that's not including the Ankeny players and the new people that are popping up.

For Melee? ehhh... idk... Lol we kind of already ditched that game.. Terrible at it now.

We were hella pro tho before Brawl came out. It's so weird goin from Brawl to Melee cause air dodge is useful in Brawl but in Melee its terrible... Little stuff like that... Lol

Yes, meet up at Mayhem this week, but we would need to find another place for the next week because that place is not suitable for multiple Smashfests.

I won't judge Brawl's air dodge because I'm not qualified, but as far as Melee's air dodge goes: I strongly disagree. Someone who was "hella pro" would have understood the applications of an air dodge. Without the air dodge, you wouldn't be able to wavedash.

Yea thats true... without air dodge u cant wavedash.. heh forgot about that. I meant using air dodge for the way it was meant to be used. It isn't very useful in Melee compared to Brawl.

I have a small crew of 5 in the Ames area (we mainly play Brawl).

I've just started checking the Iowa threads on here and we'll try to show up to events.

Anyone else in Ames this summer? Feel free to pm me if you're in Ames and want to play 1v1 or 2v2.

I will be attending ISU this fall. I'm told that it is mostly Brawl up there, but rest assured - once I'm a student, I'll do my best to start up a competitive Melee scene.

@victor: The people I play with are fine playing either game. I've been more into brawl lately just because it's new and my controllers are crapping out on me (but they still work for brawl).

If we decided to do a crew battle or smashfest or whatever, I'm pretty much free anytime except for the 21st-22nd, and I'll play Brawl or Melee...It's kind of hard to find a place to do it at though.

Also, do you have an account on steam Sluys? I think I see your account under the DSMGG group I'm a part of...my tag for that is ShRaPnel if you wanna play some TF2 or something sometime...

I dont think Mayhem would be too happy with alot of people... I mean i heard its just jokers crew at Mayhem, but then when u add my crew and sluys crew... It might get to be too much. Anyone know of any other places we could go to in Des Moines?
