If anyone has noticed the new level, then you already know the whole stage moves around. If you look at the videos again you'll notice that the Halberd level acts just the same. You can even see it landing onto the ship in the 1st video.

I guess you can say these two levels act like Mute City, where as the main stage stays the same the whole time, but the ground of the level changes. I'm sure if C. Falcon stays then we'll see another level like this, which wouldn't be bad at all.

hopefully we'll have a relatively large amount of stages to choose from, as I think the stages are what really sets smash apart from other fighters, but if too many of them follow this formula (or for that matter, the stage with three platforms formula) that's not good for variety.

Unless they bring back Mute City, then Delfino and the Halberd should be the only two stages that follow Mute's "moving platform" formula. We don't want to many stages to be the same. That said, SSBM had too many "three platform" stages in it, and I think this time around those should be kept to a minimum. Battlefield and maybe a couple of others could use the three platforms, but every other stage in the game should take on a more unique approach. We should see more big stages like Hyrule Temple, more shifting stages like Pokefloats, Big Blue, and Rainbow Cruise, but also stages like Great Bay that are basic and small in design but are unique enough that they don't get boring.

I like how they're turning their attention to making scenery that moves in place of a stage that moves. I always thought the moving stages in Melee were just a pain and gimmicky; it kind of sets apart the experienced players and the novice players as novices have to shift their focus to surviving the stage and not who you're fighting again. I can handle the moving stages and play them every now and then, but most people I play with don't play frequently enough to be able to handle the platforming while fighting all at once.

One of my only complaints with Melee was how half of the exotic locales rarely get used because of being built as a gimmicky stage. Mario Power Tennis took this to a new level as the stages were unlockable as "gimmick-free" so you could play without distractions; an option I hope they make present in Brawl.

Stages like Rainbow Cruise and Icicle Mountain would probably be seen much more frequently if you could turn off the scrolling aspect at will.

Personally as klong as the edges are grabbable these stages are fine. Non grabbable edges really hurts Mute City in my eyes. They seem to have fixed the blandness of the basic stage part quite well.

Also, these stages are freakin beautiful. As in seriously awesome.

WAIT A MINUTE... no more Hyrule Temple? That was my fave stage, along with Final Destination. I don't know whats wrong with Hyrule Temple, the big stage just makes matches more intense.

And to the author of this thread... you make to many threads...

This level is great, I really like it. It would be awesome if instead of a routine landing schedule like in Mute City the platform would drop off at random points each game. A general list of locations still, but in a different, shuffle-like order with each location having a different feature.

Ah, the cave of immortality. Great for the occasional game (and to give you tech practice), but hardly a place I want to frequent.

MLG Banned stage. GG.

Too abusable by fox in competitive play. Think of the laser spam.. its too exploitable and obviously fox players trying to do anything to win (good mindset) would laser spam on hyrule temple. Its too big of a stage, so it is banned.

I say **** hyrule temple and BRING BACK HYRULE CASTLE!!!!

With tornados dammit! I like them.

These stages appear to almost like a healthy mix of Mute City and Pokemon Stadium. Although we don't know for sure whether the Halberd stage will feature anything but the front deck of the ship and the floating platform, Delfino Plaza should feature as many if not more different landscapes for fighting than Pokemon Stadium from SSBM. One key difference with Delfino Plaza, though, is that it looks like the only time there will be holes to fall in to is on the floating platform. This is important to note because most KOs in Pokemon Stadium and Mute City are a result of falling to the bottom of the stage, although we have yet to see all the different places you visit in Delfino Plaza, there could easily be a rooftop location or the spot near the cannon, which has plenty of holes (hopefully they integrate that cannon into combat somehow, too).

Delfino is more like Mute City than the Halberd stage. Mute City was a a big road with varying amounts/locations of platforms and when the road was removed, it was one big platform. However, Delfino seems to have more interesting intermediate fighting locations between the flying platform portion. I'm pretty sure Halberd is just the same platform/setup the whole time with the background changing a lot...

Actually, I would LOVE to see more 3-platform/main platform setups than Melee. Melee didn't have enough. Out of 30-some stages, we ended up playing only 5 or so: Battlefield, FD, Dreamland64, Poke Stadium, FoD and occasionally Yoshi's Story. Pretty much other stage we ran into issues. We played the others just for fun, but for competitive rounds, those were pretty much it. I'd like to see better variations of this and less of stages like...well, say Brinstar Depths or Flatzone...(or the dreaded MK1 with the stupid blocks that reappear every 1.5 seconds...)

In any case...Delfino plaza looks amazing, and I wanna play it!

I think a mario kart stage would be intriguing... but I think that may be a small glimpse at thias games adventure mode.
Actually, I'd expect that is a multiplayer stage, as, in the Nintendo World Trailer, we see Pitt and Wario fighting on it, as well as a few other glimpses here and there.

I agree, it is most probably just as it looks, you fight on that main stretch and those three platforms and every once in a while the shy guys or what ever else may come drive by, and maby at different speeds.

I hope they don't give a warning sighn when they do come driving by, like in Onett, I like surprises lol

Delfino Plaza and Halberd both look so great, but a part of me thinks its kinda odd that these arenas seem to have so much focus on the background and stuff. The backgrounds are heavily animated in the Halberd level as well as Delfino Plaza, or so it seems. I hope they don't all follow this pattern that Mute City or Pokemon Stadium had with the landscape in a contstant changing state due to the heavily animated craziness going all around the fighrers. Its good to have some stages like that, where the main platform moves along a path, but if they are all like this I think we will definitely miss the slightly less involved levels like Mushroom Castle or Fountain of Dreams.

i think it looks great. The only thing that i have to ask is where do you think the landing spots will be?

I think I would rather have a lot of mute city style moving stages than Big Blues style scrolling stages. So, it's pretty cool, I guess.
