Soooo, I play against this pit player as zss and he plays very defensively and i just cant seem to get around it.
By defensively i mean that he shoots some arrows, and i when i approach him, he just tries dodging and then try to get an fsmash, jab combo or dsmash on me. OR he just runs away and shoots more arrows until i'm forced to approach again.
Advice would be greatly appreciated. :bee:

Pit's a bad matchup if you don't have experience with it. I don't have much to offer you, but I will say that you're not alone. I think Dazwa beat NL's Pit in a tourney recently so maybe he can weigh in.

I hate this match so much, but basically your scuttle step over B is pretty good against pit you can cancel out his arrows with the first hit, but try to get pit in the air really struggle once he is in the air this game becomes easy, but I have problems against this match, just try to poke/ bait his f-smash and punish with d-tilt/d-smash/grab depending on the situation.

Jab and grab rules in this match, for some reason, but this is like one of the three or 4 characters that I will change to sheik on the second round for, because it is just stupid.

I'd say a lot of mindgames are involved in this matchup; use your suit pieces wisely. Any Pit will expect you to use them in a normal fashion and try to shield them and laugh at your face, which is where you have to fool them into thinking you'll throw them in one direction, which is when you dodge him and throw them at him from above, etc. Pit is a good punisher so you have to make your Pit opponent think he has you where he wants him but really you're about to eat him alive. Examples are using neutral B when he reflects to make it look like you're about to stun yourself then he goes in for a dash attack and you Dsmash his face in :3

Pit has range but his attacks are pretty lackluster and are pretty much all SDIable. His Up+B is rather gimpable and it's predictable coming back to the stage so you can dsmash stagespike that sucker. D: Just try to PS the arrows and dash into his face. Uairs are your friends as he has fast aerials too but Uair is faster than what he has and you can juggle Pit pretty well.

tl;dr dont be dum

Frisco you know
Mindgames with the pieces at the start are essential, I like downward glide toss to jabs because their usual reaction to the GT will be to reflect it at you. It's also good to just hold onto the piece and use your bmoves instead to bait him into the mirror or a shield and punish (although you should really do this against everyone).

And just get good at powershielding, and don't let the arrows frustrate you too much, this is a match just as much about mental control as skills, if you get on his *** and stay there you'll win.

Nair might. It beats Pikachu's tjolt and still hits Pika. I don't see why it wouldn't be effective on Pit.

...What's wrong with just shielding them?

Anyways I think the matchup is 45/55 Pit because of priority alone. I'm usually the one approaching. You gotta get close to him to stop the arrows. when up-close dont try to simply use your moves against him, he will outprio with all his H2H moves. Bait him to use his moves by moving all around him up-close then counter. lasers dont work here since he can counter with his shield and possibly paralyze you. His nair pretty much out prios everything you got (clangs with side b).

pit is pretty much impossible to edgeguard when below the ledge since his uair stops EVERYTHING you got. Above the ledge you may have a chance.

Imo this fight is all about making him do the first blow, missing, then countering with your fast moves.
