It’s been eight long years since your untimely death from your last official game, Sonic Adventure 2. Since then, us Sonic fans have had a hard time dealing with the loss of your hedgehog-ness. We’ve seen some games that have managed to capture your spirit pretty well, and then we’ve seen some games that have completely disgraced and disrespected your name. Some people are still in fact fooled by this other hedgehog that has taken your place, thinking that you are in fact this new hedgehog that comes out in crappy games. But I know Sonic, I do indeed know. The Sonic that I know would not go about a game incapable of a spindash when he learned it and mastered it in the 90s (Sonic Heroes). The Sonic I know would not just get killed in some random cutscene by some random evil spirit (Sonic 06). The Sonic I know would not put up chase just to get caught by Eggman, only to go Super, and then get fooled by Eggman and turned into a Werehog (Sonic Unleashed). The Sonic I know would not have a laggy, slow *** Homing Attack (Super Smash Bros. Brawl).

But it is okay Sonic. On this day, I will not dishonor you by playing some ****ty game that just so happens to have your name in the title. No. Today, I will only play your greats. I am not interested in playing a Sonic the Hedgehog game that does not have THE Sonic the Hedgehog in it. I am only interested in playing the Sonic games that made people respect the fact that I am a Sonic fan, not ridicule it.

With that said, I shall now start my play with Sonic the Hedgehog. 1991. Not 2006.

To me Sonic died with Ryan Drummond. Griffeth is the fake Sonic. Not just because I don't like his voice, but the games really did go down hill from there, to me.

Okay, here's what Sonic Team needs to do:

1: MAKE THE GAMES ABOUT SONIC:

Yes, we appreciate the ability to play as other characters but these days your games seem to be more about how totally awesome it is to play as all of these other characters rather than you! (Actually, Sonic Team as been getting better about this).

2: High speed Platforming = win. Weird God of War clone = fail:

Okay, we all loved Sonic back when his games were about running really really fast and doing some fun platforming really really fast. And we didn't mind the other styles of play used when suited toward the other characters. But stop trying to make sonic do something other than run really really fast.

3: Fire everyone who works there, and go get a new staff who knows the meaning of the word "fun.":

Does this really need an explanation?

Sonic heroes: Daytime levels: fun. Night time levels: not fun.

Sonic and the Black Knight: Running really fast chopping things up: fun. Being repetitious: not fun.

Sonic and the Secret Rings: Running really really fast: fun. Crappy combat: not fun.

They should fire half their team and then get another half of people who understand "fun" to join.

Sonic Heroes was the best of the 3 Gamecube Sonic games, more so than Adventure 1 and 2, as I got to play as Sonic, or as a character who played similarly to him more than 30% of the game.

If you are going to play the classics, either skip Sonic 3, or play S3&K, as Sonic 3 is terrible.

How many levels did Sonic have in Adventure 2- City Escape, Metal Harbor, Green Forest, Final Rush, Crazy Gadget, and the level before Egg Golem? I have probably missed one or two (not counting the minute you play as Sonic on the final level), but this game had such a terrible lack of actual Sonic Stages it wasn't funny. Especially when the levels only lasted 3 minutes each on average, and you'd be punished with a low rank if you didn't get there in time.

I have said this loads of times, but grind rails are the scourge of the Sonic Franchise, and now the majority of stages are full of them.

Did you play the rail levels on Sonic Heroes? They were irritating to say the least.

S3&K allows for Tails to be playable in Sonic & Knuckles, and Knuckles in Sonic 3 if I recall correctly, which is pretty cool (don't quote me on this, I haven't played S3&K in years). Sonic 3 was the worst of the original 4 Mega Drive games, it paled to Sonic 1 and 2, then S&K came along and blew it out of the water (although 2 is still my favourite).

You did realize you had to hit the direction for the rail you wanted to switch to BEFORE you hit jump, right? <.<; They were much better than the rails in SA2 as far as reliability went. But even in that game they weren't Horrible or anything. Having the Lightdash and "Bounce" attack on the same button was way more irritating to me.


So in other words you really liked about half of Sonic 3 and thought the rest was ok? lol
Sonic 3 is my favorite lone Sonic game. Being able to save your progress was 22 gud back then. Plus it had "3-D" Special Stages. Yeah you could play Tails in S&K and Knuckles in Sonic 3 AND 2. That's cool too but that stuff doesn't make Sonic 3 suck. =/

It's just inferior to the combined S3&K which it Should be.

I don't see really how Sonic 3's stages are any more or less generic then it's predecessors/ successors either. I still have and play all the games on my Genesis and they all look great.

isn't this a bit too much, though? Even though some complain that some of the recent Sonic games, its still fun, man. I mean, we all loved the Genesis Sonic games, and yeah Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 was too good. After that, some people just lost interest, but there where few that still liked them. But, peeps are entitled to their opinions.

If it looks bad (to you), just wait. They will grace us with another good Sonic game. Just wait for it...

As for waiting, I've waited long enough. Unleashed was like, supposed to be the game that would in fact revive Sonic, but the Werehog kept it dead.
