Dash+Grab VS Sliding shield+Grab

MK's dashing grab has insane reach, but I find that blindly running in and attempting a grab can be somewhat dangerous. I have been using sliding shield + grab to remedy this, but the range seems to be considerably shorter. It does protect me from getting my face smashed in as I dash in, though. I am starting to think that maybe the dashing grab is not so great of an approach if the distance is far enough for the opponent to have time to react easily. What do you guys think/do?

I use my dash grabs to punish after someone does something stupid. Metaknight grabs are very important to playing a great metaknight. You do a lot of cool things with his dthrow.

Just mix it up so he never knows what you'll do. I like to teleport behind him for absolutely no reason, just for the effect of confusion. Hit him with a grounded tornado or drill rush once or twice. Give him every reason to put up his shield when you approach rather than smash you.

i usually do d-tilt > dash grab
this is very powerful because of the high rate of trippin on metaknights d-tilt so if they trip they get grabbed and if they block most opponents dont see a grab comin

one ur opponent catches on to this pattern u can start mixin it like so
d-tilt > sh-faiar
d-tilt > d-tilt > dash grab
d-tilt > f-smash
d-tilt > d-smash

...So? Chaingrabbing in MK dittos is so lame anyways, I can't imagine anyone willing to do it. MK dittos are almost as intense as the old fox dittos when they get up in skill level. Why ruin it with CGing?

i dont play meta, but my friend mains him, and i have noticed that insane reach on the dash grab, so when i see a metaknight charging me i usually start with the shield up or if i have range, (i main lucas) i let loose on some short hop pk fire so i can control the spacing a bit without letting meta run all over me like good metaknights do, but yeah, try not to use it as an approach as you will most likely be punished for it, use it when your opponent makes a mistake and you can capitalize.

You've heard of Mango, yes?

My point will make sense depending on if you know of him or not.

At a San Diego Triweekly just last week, Mango won third and ripped up one of his 5$ bills and called it dirty money. Mango's too good. =P

The point is, there are more important things in life than money. Like having fun.

Stupid question that I never had answered: is Mks dash grab just dashing into someone and then grabbing with increased grab range? Is it that simple?

Basically.

And to Boss8, if those are really your priorities, you have a really ****ed up lifestyle. Learn to live, man.

And I would take out a 5 and rip it up, but I don't have one to rip.

wow stop *****ing about 5 dollars jeez...

and boss8, no, nobody can just start with meta knight and be good with him. Everyone of the 39 (or 37 if you consider pt to be 1 char) requires training to be good.
