This was recorded at Team Hawaii's Hotel during Oc3. We shared our room with the Alaskans. They were very cool with sleeping on the floor with blankets and pillows. lolz So of course we had to have some friendlies.
This match is between me and Lunaris. Lunaris is one of if not THE best in Alaska.

This was recorded at about 4 in the morning so please don't read too much into this. lolz There's alot of swearing in these, but it's all in good **** talk. XD The voices you hear are Racer X and Firefly from Team Hawaii, Lunaris and Myself. Thanks to Firefly for holding the camera. The camera shakes alot cause we're laughing really hard. =w=

Pay close attention to Fox's Up Airs.

Firefly is currently uploading more vids over the course of the week, so I will update
this as he adds more vids. We recorded alot so please enjoy and look forward to more. Feel free to discuss. I accept all questions comments etc. Idk if I should post these in the vid thread also. >_>

YES! thank you for smash DI'ing Fox's up air. You did fairly well against a fairly good fox. Too many suicides 2nd time around. Not to mention him spamming pause alot lol. But you guys were enjoying the game.

I can't talk to my friend when he's playing >.>' He won't hear a word your saying.

I saw some very well timed kicks, and some not very well timed ones lol.

Overall your zelda was good ^^;.

*Note*
I didn't notice you said pay close attention to fox's up airs. I just noticed them anyways lol >.>

Thank you Zone. Ya, there were choke suicdes. I never condone my suicides. Cause I feel that Zelda needs every life possible. Can't really give top tiers any freebies. ^^ But yeah, we were out of it, and it was like 4 in the morning, right after 0c3 singles. No johns. :p

I think if I had been more awake, I would've actually remembered to wavedash every now and then. lolz
**** talk is the best part of friendlies. ;D

And yea those upairs. I think my reflexes were just at their peak around that time cause we had been playing for 4 days straight. >_> If anyone has any questions on how it's done I'll be glad to explain, actually it was kinda explained in the video.

My gosh, you guys sounded drunk. Especially the giggler, whoever that was. Yeah, you should have been wavelanding a lot more in certain instances to chace for the combo, and I saw a lot of missed JCkiks. That fox really shoulda been doing SHlasers, especially since they were FD matches. He has some improvement to make alright. Good stuff, sounds like you guys were having fuuuun.

I think one of my friends might have been. And ya, now that you mention it, I missed to many of those. I was just spamming kicks and no real mindgames whatsoever. lolz I usually try to pulse walk and add some neutral A and dash attacks in other than kicks.

I <3 wavelanding. lolz

And yeah I give Lunaris credit for being noble and not camping me. Either that or he was too tired to think of it. I think he was just too determined to get that upair. hehehe

At 4:00, almost any mistake is acceptable, though I find myself performing my best late at night. When I begin to tire, I begin to be predictable, and slowly get slower and worse reflexes. There's a short time when I'm at my best and my reflexes are crazy. Whenever I start playing in the morning, I'm usually all sluggish and playing bad in general. Anyone else like this?

IF you mean one time your see every mistake and your brain calculates the correct response quickly while also pre-plotting your future moves and predictions, and your hand eye coordination seems to be almost near perfect, and the Next day you feel hot, kinda tired, and you play lazy kinda just tossing moves out, not really thinking fast enough... doing stupid mistakes?

Yes.

There will be times where I wreck, or be wrecked. Because of my game alertness. WHen i'm not so into Smash I tend to be the lazy player. AKA Sandbagging? even though I'm not winning really when I do this lol.

When I'm into smash and very alert. I catch my enemies mistakes. Follow techs and DI better. as well as less likely to mistake a Ledge Farore wind stall, and accidently side+B to my death.

Ya, I was just losing it lolz. I missed an edgehog for goodness sake. I have no idea how that happend. And then shortly after I miss a ledge hop fair. The tolls of Oc3 were causing alot of stress on my hands. And I usually NEVER get sore in the hands or wrists when I play Zelda. It's all muscle memory pretty much.

Personally the later I play and longer I've been playing that day, the worse I do.

Thank you Rage. I am honored by your words.

Lunaris and I played alot during Oc3. Well, I played him at ever chance I got. When we were more awake I played his Falco. We were more or less even. We talked alot, and I quote.

"For some reason I just really hate losing to you...don't get me wrong, you're a great player, it's just...IT'S FAWKING ZELDA!" =w=

I had the privilage of playing lots of pros some of which I am friends with now...
Rickety-Got one stocked twice in two very close matches >_< <3 Rick
Manacloud-Two stocked his Marth and Falco. FD and YS respectively. I'm sure he was tired though.
PC Chris-Got two stocked twice. :] Fox...soooo fast.
Isai and The King-Got one stocked and then 3 stocked in teams. <3 my partner Firefly.
Gimpyfish-Almost won a best of 3 Money Match. Suicides oh how you haunt me. lolz
Eggz-Split with him in pools 1-1. Mario Sexy Time.
Forward-Got two stocked by his sheik. He's so awesome.
Taj-Two stocked by his Mewtwo. It made me dizzy.

I recieved alot of props and stuff and even people telling me to write a guide and whatnot (which is may do provided that school is light) but I'm still practicing. Thank you very much. ^.^

Rickety is a SoCal player like myself. We've smashed together before, and he twice 3-stocked my Zelda. He played Doc and Marth those two matches. I couldn't even waveland back then if I recall. It's been a while since we played, though I went to a tournament at his house. I didn't get to play him that day. :( Yeah, he tends to place high in all the San Diego tournaments, but there are still better down here. The San Diego smash scene is booming now, and we boast some credible players down here. Rickety modestly tells people that he isn't very good, but only because he isn't the best. He's a great player I hope to be able to at least challenge one day.

Rickety is the coolest guy I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and playing. His reading and adapting are top notch. Ken trained him personally I believe. YOU HEAR THAT RICK??? <3

Our matches were very close. Last stock 90% or so each. The kick vs the Tipper. I've never been happier with myself though. Going to the mainland for the first time and not knowing ANY of the players pretty much, was very nerve wracking particularly since Zelda isn't easy to use against unfamiliar opponents.

Mmm cool
I wish i had the ability to travel around :p Sadly, i live far closer to the pros than you do, but as a teenager with anal asian parents, i can't even travel down to Sjsu 20 mins away for Norcal Biweeklies very often :p

Nice stuff though. How are you timing the smash DIed uair avoids? at 4am no less

Are you kidding about that Ken statement? And yeah, his reading and adapting are good. He makes me feel like I am a pattern oriented CPU with AI when he quickly catches on to my style and then proceeds to pwn me.

Hahaha thank you Darkatma. I can do it pretty consistantly because I always just DI up and to the left on every fox grab. You have to start DI ing on the grab to ensure that you go the correct way on the up throw. I've learned that doing it at the time of the throw is no good for me. The trick is that it's Fox's right foot that kills you and sends you flying. So as long as you avoid the foot on the right, you will suffer no more than a love tap.

The hard part is figuring out what to do afterwards, essepcially on stages without platforms. And I love my quote on teh vid..."i don't do it all the time cause...it's fast." lolz That and many foxes I play are so good at following DI they still manage to get under me at low percents. But Lunaris was obviously not used to playing a Zelda. hehehe actually most of the people I played at Oc3 had no idea how to fight me. Only the big pros.

And I even though it was 4 in the morning, we had been playing uber high level smash since 4 days ago non stop so I think my reflexes and survival instincts were on auto piolet. Probably why I wasn't pulse walking and wavelanding too much.

And yes Hideous Being, I am dead serious about the Ken training. Long ago when Ken was still highly active in tournaments, he wanted to try giving lessons to people. I believe it was 20 bucks an hour. Considering that professional teachers for music can charge as much as 100 dollars an hour PLUS they have a screening process, that's not bad. Rick was the first AND ONLY student under Ken in this respect. That kinda explains why he uses Doc, Sheik and Marth. Ken enjoys using all three esspecially Doc in friendlies. Also, one of Kens greatest strengths is adapting and manipulating the opponent. Rick has both of the qualities as you pointed out. Kinda scary if you ask me.

Ken didn't take anymore students because he didn't have the time and found it to be very tiring. I wouldn't know because I've never seriously tried to teach someone as they play match by match.

When Rick goes Marth, that is a sign that he knows how you play and can read you well. He went Marth just for me because I asked him long before we met at Oc3. It was a great match.

Thank you to everyone for the awesome comments and questions. I'm gonna keep poking my friend Firefly until he loads more vids of Team Hawaii.
