If this has already been made a thread then plz direct me to it.

I use marth allot but I have only spiked someone (in brawl) like once. What is the hitbox on his dair because I can just neva spike anyone anymore and I have almost given up hope.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to use this attack affectively thanx in advance.

hit with the tip of the sword
lordaxl: the way i do it is by tapping control stick down lightly(kinda like shorthop) and then jump and dair at same time almost just jump before dair
by this way you do not lose alot of height and you recover easily with up b(this was an awesome technique in melee)

you have to hit with the actual tip this time around. A good technique that I use is to jump out at your opponent, bair to turn around, and then hit with the back part of the dair spike behind you. The tip hitbox is much easier to connect with in the back and it should give you an easier time. It's still a b**** though but this should help.

For me, hitting with like the ending part of the swing while not facing them works well. >_>

ohh, don't forget you can spike people getting up from the ledge if you time it just right. It's hard to do but I've managed it a couple times and its a great way to get a low % kill

Apparently, you didn't play Marth last time around. You've always had to hit with the tip. Just this time, the tip is a lot smaller.

Just make sure not to face them. If you don't face them, and miss, most of the time it sends them horizontally off the stage anyways. Sometimes it sends them upwards, which means you've saved them.

depends on whether the opponent is recovering vertically or horizontally. tap side then jump and spike if horizontal.

Just hit with the tip. It's easier to tip when facing backwards so you could use a bair to turn around or u could RAR (Reverse Arial Rush: Dash, tap backwards, jump and then tap back to the side you where dashing.).
And ofcourse you could always try the footstool spike. Just footstool and then instantly dair.

vid of footstool spike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z56WVsiZDmg

hope i helped ;)

It's true I didn't play Marth, I played shiek and jiggs, but still what I said is still true. In melee there was a lot of room for error, at least in comparison to brawl, where you really do need the very tip if you want the spike.

And if you know your opponent will be expecting a spike after the bair, you can always just bair again and catch them off guard for a ko. Or you can spike them with the front bottom part of the hitbox. It still seems easier then when they are right below you.
