Actually, the description only specifies the color of the crowns. It says they are golden, not actual gold. The crowns could be fake gold, and thus they will very easily start to wear eventually into colors such as brown, gold, or black.

Of course, I don't know how long the process takes and google isn't helping.

If la reine says that she sees a golden crown, and each of les rois see the golden crown on the other man, they would both refuse to answer on the first night. They would believe that the other sees a non-golden crown, and would answer that their own crown is golden. When they see each other not answer, they might then answer on the second night...

Read the first paragraph of the Queen's actions again. It says that she puts a gold crown on both of their heads.

So pretty much, I think Tom has it.

I think this is a pretty clear reference to Charlotte's web, I'm just not sure how as I know nothing about it.

Also, the "end of me" could mean the end of "me" as in the letter E, which could stand for energy?

The first puzzle is the second night.

See "the blue eyes problem"

Basically, guy 1 reasons that if he didn't have a golden crown, the second guy would know the queen was referring to his crown, and he would report night one. He does not report night one. Therefore, he knows he must have a golden crown.

I'm gonna look at the other two puzzles now

Mediocre does so. A huge spider appears from above and points his *** at Medi. He begins to wrap medi in the web until Medi is completely bounded and no longer struggling. The spider than climbs back up his web and attaches medi to the ceiling. You all watch in amazement. [Medi may no longer post until further notice]

For the third puzzle, the only English contraction I can think of with ?'?? patern with no letters the same is I've. I think that may help.
