Cyclone And Stuff

Hey, I was just in a tourney today, and Luigi's Cyclone's high priority and surprising hitboxes helped me a lot. Unfortunately though, I've been having problems with when they figure out they can just shield the whole thing.

Do you guys have any suggestions for approaching when your tornado is getting shielded, or how to use tornado to get around a shield?

Rize it just above them and when it finishes Dair them, if they shield that Upsmash them.

Yeah, don't be afraid to use it because if it has priority over the opponents move then it can't hurt you.
After a shielded cyclone go with u-tilts or u-smash.

I don't see why people go *****in' around saying tornado's ending lag is completely punishable when it's not. But w/e people are drunk these days.


Anyways, the best way is to know your location, positioning, distance how much you'll know it'll hit. Don't just tornado from 1 side of the stage and to the other. Always SH your tornado so you can get a snapshot of their reaction so if they'll shield it, you can always tornado end up behind them AND/OR rise it by mashing the B button and when it ends, you'll end in the air and throw Nair that way it isn't punishable.

Another thing is that, you don't have to just place the tornado eating their shield. You can just get past them instead to fake them out.

Most peeps don't shield the whole tornado, but powershield the last hit and grab you. There is nothing you can do about that.

for the most part, using the tornado to get around a shield is a bad idea. I would only do it if I could pass by them or rise it up etc.

mix up your approaches and try to grab him while he's shielding or something...

I think he's talking about when he throws a tornado and finds it shielded.

In that case I always just move back to where I was lol. Never thought of rising it up, but I certainly will from now on. Punishing a shieldgrab with a nair is sweetness.

EWU was good, but I lost to jamn and then barely lost to arti. I was behind more than a stock on arti final match and I used the tornado a ton of times and almost made it back, but he started shielding it. Thanks for the help, guys.

No it is not. People who regulary play luigis will be wary of it.

But you are on the right track Mars, cyclone is good when it is not expected which is why in some match-ups it is important not to spam it. In some match-ups it is, i.e Bowser.
