Countering Sheik Pillar

Indirectly fox-related, however still relevant. Hopefully SCOTU will see this post.

Anyway does anyone have frame data on the sheik pillar ?!?!?

Sheik Pillar = falling f-air (at bot of shield) > jabs > f-tilt/up-tilt

note : don't know which one is faster among the tilts, and would like to know the frames to punish after the f-air and hopefully also after the jabs

but really, half of shiek's game in that matchup is catching you in your shield and pressuring accordingly. play offensively and try not to be caught too much in your shield

u can easily roll away from any of sheiks "pressure". roll away after the jab, or jus sidestep anything then crouch cancel any of the weak tilts/jabs and upsmash. non perfectly spaced ftilt u usmash out of shield.

u may not be able to directly punish just by shielding but u can always roll out or time a sidestep.

Lol well if this shiek doesn't grab you then upsmash out of shield after her tilt.

Just kidding, what lovage said just gotta space your self instead of shielding, since she doesn't have too much range on her fair so you could get her with a nair or dair right after her fair comes down.

shield grab after the fair while holding down so you cc the jab/tilt and then depending on what it is just cc into grab/d-tilt

or shine if they mispace hard

fox's d-tilt is really good vs sheik if you cc her f-tilt you have a fraction more range than it and can punish real easy

this stops working at like ~45.

after that don't bother with tricks just get away. i'd advise against rolling too much (roll is good though, don't get me wrong) because she's looking to dash attack you more than anything else so wd back or jump backwards onto platform and waveland away.

shield to upsmash. do moves. anything really. fox's attacks **** sheik.

shine out of shield works well if you want to catch her right after the fair. Nothing she can do is fast enough to counter it.

Like the people above mentioned, rolling is good, and CCing the jab/tilt to grab, dtilt or usmash is good too.

Sheik doesn't have a pillar.

I don't think it counts as a pillar when CCing the jab into shine/U-smash and getting a **** combo from it counters it.

usmash out of shield is amazing in this matchup, use it to punish ever time the shiek messes up his spacing
also i recently found out how amazing dtilt is in this matchup. i use it a lot because it can start fun tech combos ( shine turnaround bair ) but in serious play, its range and non-existent start up time is too good to over look
