I prefer Hoshido myself but since my brother wants to start with that version of the game I'm probably gunna tackle Nohr first.

Hoshido is obviously the morally correct choice here, but Nohr is the super edgey one.
I thought that the idea was more that there is no truly correct choice?

I don't know a crapload about Fates since I've been trying to avoid spoilers and so don't look up much about it

One of the biggest criticisms I've heard of Nohr's plot is that it makes you feel bad for choosing that side. I mean, I guess both sides are meant to make you feel bad because of the whole fighting your family thing, but Nohr is apparently bad for reasons other than that or something.

Not that I know this from firsthand experience, but apparently Hoshido is a country almost completely full of goodie-two-shoes and Garon is an absolutely despicable person.

I am picking Hoshido for three reasons

1.) They have the cooler abilities. Utility & Healing > full throttle offense imo
2.) I'm very close to being a modern day hippie...but without the pot lol
3.) Everyone loves the edge of nohr, but I don't care for it :p

I wish I had the patience to wait for Revelations and start with it. That's the path I agree with the most

I'm not actually picking Nohr because it's edgey, I'm just making fun of myself. I'm interested in Nohr because it's supposed to be more challenging than Hoshido.

I'll probably still play Hoshido eventually, but on Hard/Classic and with no grinding.

Oh I wasn't referring to you, just the people I know that are buying conquest.

For Hoshido, I'm doing the same thing as you. I still want the game to be difficult so I'm going hard and classic first time around. I'm too lazy to grind so that won't be a problem :estatic:

I chose Nohr first because of the characters. The only one of the Hoshido siblings that I really like is Ryoma, and that d-bag Takumi is there, which is a con in and of itself. I do like Hana, Rinka, and some of the other minor characters though. Nohr, on the other hand, has Xander, Camilla, Leo, Nyx, Arthur, Effie, Charlotte, Belka, Gunther, and Pieri.

Plus, wyverns and dark magic, two of my favorite FE things, and a new class that combines the two.

I actually like Takumi...
His inferiority story is incredibly interesting

Takumi's my favorite sibling from what I've seen, along with Leo. They just seem better than the others.

Especially Takumi. Nice to see that Corrin will have a Shinon, unlike Robin and Kris.

So, I really like Gunther's design and as a character, and would like to use him, but with Conquest's more limited resources, I was wondering if it was worth it, him being the Jeigan, and all. I've heard he's usable, just not great. What do you guys think?

well, it said no in-store pickup, so I'll have to hope that there's stock in the store on release.

might as well go full modern hippie and start smokin' pot

kidding....maybe

IIRC Revelations is supposed to be made available in the first half of March so it's not too much longer of a wait, right? Then again we've all been waiting for Fates for a while already and Corrin's Smash 4 release still seems farther away than it is.....

I'm personally going to play Hoshido first because it's easier and I want to get used to the game first. and then I'm going to play through Nohr and download Revelations and play through it.

Same. I don't even know why I like him, I just do. (maybe because of the whole "Blame Takumi" thing.)

What exactly is a Shinon? I'm kinda curious.

I have been a die hard Fire Emblem fan ever since I was a kid. And I'm American. I played the games on Super Famicom all in Japanese and own the OVA on VHS.

For some reason, I ain't digging this new Fire Emblem. I'm on the fence. And it's not that the game is split in two. There's something about it...I just can't quite put my finger on it. People in this thread seem to have played it already or know a great deal about it. Besides the split, is there anything substantial it adds?

...besides dating sim mechanics?

...the so-called 'dating sim' crap is a very much overblown, optional and overall minor part of the game. Fates is just as much about turn-based strategy warfare as FE has ever been.

I wanna know, marriage has been a part of Fire Emblem for quite a while now, why is it a problem or negative point all of a sudden?

I think its like the new FE crossover, that looked to be a only idol fanservive thing with fe things, but showed to be a awesome game, i think some people are having this impression of fates
