Conquest Ch.24 is going smoothly so far. The filers getting a 4+ increase in movement range took me by surpirse. But what i did in my third attempt (since my first two attempts ended in faliure since i charged into the enemy) was staying in the starting point and waiting for the fliers to come to me. I picked them off one by one. Now all the fliers minus Hinoka are gone (unless there's reinforcements). But now i have a roadblock: Azama. He has a Hexing Rod. Hexing Rods wouldn't be a problem if they didn't last the entire battle. So how do i deal with him? He can hex me from halfway across the map. And ferrying my units across the lake on the right would take top long. How do i deal with Azama?

It's should break after just three or four uses, shouldn't it? You could put decoys into the Hexing Rod's range, and then put them in defensive stance or in the back line to keep them out of harm. That way you can keep your tanks who are going to be taking all the blows safe.

To create a spoilers tag, just enclose your message by having the start of the message begin with
and then end the message with
. Below is an example of how you would use it.
This is a spoiler message.
Do it just like that and you'll have a successful spoiler tag.

Thanks Erureido Erureido

In the spoiler tags I am going to talk about my thoughts on both paths. They contain spoilers and the first one is conquest then birthright

Ok so I really liked Conquest, probably more than birthright. The chapters and gimmicks were really awesome, and the challenge just shows that IS has not lost its challenge. Chapter 10 was the one that stuck out the most to me, and to many others. I hated and loved that chapter at the same time. I hate it because of those flyers and that challenge so early on when your main walls are Effie(Who had bad defense growths for me at that point, she gained so much more after that chapter) and my minus defense Corrin. So yeah it was quite the problem and my Camilla was already cornered so I could not reach the flyers fast enough. I love it because of its challenge and its suspense the last few turns. Its all about that last line of defense at the 4 spots, and if they pass you it is it. Now I am going to talk about the characters, because dang there are some great ones in conquest. I really hate how Xander and Leo have low speed which really destroyed me in another chapter that I find HARDER than Chapter 10. I think they made that to balance out him and Ryoma, but I always feel like with Bushido and Rajinto, Ryoma is just better in every aspect besides maybe Defense. Leo just got weaker as time went on because of his lacking speed. However, Elise and Camillas were gods for me. Elise sure got overshadowed by Forrest when I got him, but she was still amazing. Camilla was just a monster in all aspects. She made every chapter SOOOOO much easier.
However, there were the undertakers as well before I get to the AMAZING characters. Sophie was only bad in this playthrough because of when I got her and just lost my dedication with her because Silas outclassed her. Another character was Laslow. I thought he would be sooo much better, but Selena was just a greater character with her husbando Xander. Another under achiever was Niles. Wait what??!!? I thought Niles would be an AWESOME character throughout the entire game, so I think I set my expectations too high. However, Niles was an awesome unit early, unlike his other retainer which I got terrible use out of the first time around. Odin, oh Odin. I expected soooooo much more from you, but again like Sophie, it was my dedication that ruined Odin. I used him in my female run and he was awesome, but I am basing these off of my first run and Odin was just as bad as Ricken was for me all the time. Still not as bad as Nyx I guess.

EDIT: I will talk more about it but I decided not to bombard people with a lot

Xander's defense is what makes him so incredible. Throughout both my normal and hardmode playthroughs of Conquest, his defense was easily on par with Beastrune Keaton all the way through, but with the added advantage of being able to attack at a range. Leo is a fairly good magic tank. He's not a dedicated mage killer like Kaze or anything, but unlike a ninja, he's actually able to take a few physical attacks when he needs to. Xander's defense and Leo's resistance caused them to be among the most important members of my army's front lines. In fact, I'd go so far as to say Xander was the single most important member of my army's front line.

As I will say in my great unit section, that goes to Effie. After Chapter 10, her defensive stats went up the roof

I found some interesting edge guarding tools for Corrin using his dragon fang shot. I'll do more testing to see if this is something that Corrin mains should include in there gameplay. If I believe it to be worth it, I will share my info.

So since I don't have a 3DS, how is Fates going?

Yeah, but now imagine if Effie could use Siegfried, and you've got Xander.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I finally finished Birthright today. Oh boy, there's a lot to talk about, but what a memorable ending it was.

Chapter 27 was a challenging map, but I was able to work my way through it by having Ryoma+Kagero bait the stronger units toward me and then have my other units finished them off. I played my cards right to the point that Garon was the only unit left, and then I had myself and Ryoma finish him off.

He then turns into a dragon, destroys the Yato, attacks Ryoma and Takumi, and then attacks again; this time, you take the blunt of the attack and supposedly die. You wake up and find Lilith, Flora, Elise, and Xander, right by your bed from the beginning of the game. A similar sequence that happened in FE:Awakening follows where all of your units you used in the previous battle motivate you to come back (Takumi's was the best because he called Dragon Garon a salamander), and then you come back with the Yato reborn. The final battle then begins!

Now this was a difficult map. I forgot about equipping Hexing Rods to lower Dragon Garon's HP, so it made approaching him a bit more difficult. You also can't save right before the battle. If there was one thing that I wished I did differently, it would be having all my units rush right away; I ended up spreading them out a bit. Rinkah+Kaden took care of the lower left, Sakura+Subaki and Silas+Hinoka took care of the bottom right, Oboro+Takumi took care of the middle left, while everyone else focused more to the middle right. I didn't want to charge onto Dragon Garon right away, so I moved myself and Ryoma+Kagero close to him but not to the point I can attack him right away. Things got really difficult when a General took out a lot of my HP with the added help of a maid. I took out the General thanks to my Armorslayer equipped, but after such a huge blow, I had Azama avoid attacking for a turn and go straight to the healing. I then had Azura sing to him so that I can switch over to Felicia to finish up the healing. After surviving the onslaught of enemies on the left, Oboro+Takumi moved more to the center to prepare for Dragon Garon.

Ryoma+Kagero then went straight to Dragon Garon. When I saw Ryoma had a 79% chance of hitting him and Dragon Garon potentially hitting him for roughly 33 damage, I was nervous. Luckily, Ryoma succeeded with one crit and Kagero blocked Dragon Garon's attack. Going into the enemy's turn, I sadly lost Azura and Rinkah. I knew sacrifices were going to be made when the moment the General hit me hard and I had to heal up, and I had a feeling either Azura or Felicia would have to sacrifice themselves to keep me alive. Rink held off really well on her own, tanking all of the heavy physical fighters, with Kaden weakening them for her to finish off, on the bottom left so that only the sorcerers were left to finish her off. Kaden held on his own pretty well after that. Dragon Garon's attack also missed when he tried to attack Ryoma, while Ryoma got two more hits.

Onto the final turn. Kaden took out the nearby Strategist; all physical units close to him were gone. Silas+Hinoka finished off the Bow Knight at the bottom right. Sakura+Subaki moved closer to the middle in preparation to heal. Selkie+Shiro finished off an incoming general on the top right. Ryoma attacked again, succeeding with another critical hit to the point he lowered Dragon Garon's HP to just 16 HP, but Dragon Garon finally attacked him and did a huge amount of damage. It reached the point it was between either me or Takumi to finish him off. I could deal 29% damage but I had a 74% chance of hitting, while Takumi could hit for exactly 16 damage with 100% accuracy. I decided to use myself first because I felt it would make the ending feel more canon with me as the main hero landing the final blow, but it backfired. My attack missed and Garon successfully landed an attack on me. I knew Takumi was the one to finish the job at that moment.

I moved Takumi in for the kill. He readies his bow. Suddenly, the critical flash happens. "I hate to do this," says Takumi. Takumi gets the crit and kills Dragon Garon with 24 damage! Now that was such a satisfying moment! My favorite royal sibling landing the final blow with a critical hit: simply perfection!

Also, while I listened to track before the game was released internationally, I absolutely love the Final Boss track. I don't know if it can top Id Purpose, but it is still amazing to listen to! I mean, just listen to it!

My favorite part is from 0:56 to 1:17.

The fact this wasn't included in Smash with Corrin still baffles me. I would love to have that track playing as I play on the Coliseum stage.
My wife Azura dies for real at the end because the song kills her. Again, this is another event I knew about in advance because I saw a few images of it, but never did I watch the cutscene until now. It was sad, but nowhere as sad as Elise and Xander's deaths in my opinion. I was still moved when they showed the tears in her eyes as she begs you to smile one last time.

Ryoma's coronation follows afterwards. All of the Hoshido siblings, minus Ryoma because he's giving his coronation speech, cry at some point: Hinoka and Sakura cry watching Ryoma and thinking about Azura, while Takumi tries to act strong during the coronation but loses it when he thinks about Azura. After the speech, Ryoma admits he felt nervous delivering it, even though it really didn't look like it. Leo and Camilla also visit for the special occasion. Apparently, Leo will be the next king of Nohr, and that surprised me because Camilla should be next in line. Camilla reveals that she handed over the title to Leo because she is not interested in ruling.

The concluding cutscene plays after Corrin visits the lake where he first met Azura. You and Hinoka fly over Hoshido on her pegasus, and she turns to you saying that she always wanted to take you flying. You fly over your younger siblings: Sakura asks how's the view up there, while Takumi tells you to be careful. You land at the plaza where Ryoma is praying to a Mikoto statue. As the other siblings stand beside him, he talks about wanting to live on Mikoto's legacy of peace. He then turns to you as Hinoka affectionately grabs your hand and takes you towards him. He reaches his hand out; you finally have a proper and peaceful reunion with your Hoshido family without having to worry about war.

I really loved watching that cutscene because of Hinoka's interactions with Corrin. Personally, I like Hinoka more than Camilla because I like Hinoka's strong familial, devoted, and friendly approach toward Corrin compared to Camilla's motherly approach. I also remember being moved when she cried when she first reunited with you, so to her and Corrin sharing some sweet moments in the ending was really sweet.

Overall thoughts

What a wonderful game! I definitely enjoyed Birthright far more than Awakening! I think the story is a huge improvement (and a really good one too), and even the gameplay was more enjoyable. My best units in the game ending up being the following:

-Ryoma (This guy is way too good. He gets crits very often, dodges most hits, and hits really hard overall)
-Kagero (She ended up being my best ninja, and Ryoma was a great partner for her)
-Takumi (Favorite royal sibling. He's got memorable quotes, and his Fujin Yumi was OP; many memorable kills with this guy)
-Oboro (Excellent unit from beginning to end; with the Guard Naginata, she tanked and hit foes hard. With her husband, Takumi, the two were an unstoppable force)
-Kaden (Favorite unit in the game along with Takumi; He's hilarious and handles units like a boss; dodges a lot, has great speed, and can kill)
-Rinkah (Tanked the hard-hitting physical enemy units and could even land some impressive hits. She also made a great team with Kaden. She took the physical hits, while Kaden handled)
-Azama (While I didn't use him too much, any time I used him, he was hitting really hard and pretty much never died because of his Renewal skill; couple that with his healing abilities and he made for an amazing unit overall)
-Shigure (Definitely my best Falcon Knight yet, and together with Sophie, the two were unstoppable)
-Sophie (Cute and was a way better Paladin than Silas; she could take hits better and hit harder)
-Shiro (With Lethality and Astral on his side, he handled many foes really well. He also made a great partner with Selkie. Selkie handled the magic units with her high resistance stat, while Shiro took care of the physical units and gave her a needed boost in her Strength stat)
-Selkie (Deserves a mention not only because she's so adorable design and personality wise, but also because she made a great duo with Shiro)

And of course...

-Myself (I especially got better late in the game once my Strength stat reached around the 40s)

What an adventure this has been! I'm going to be starting Conquest later tonight. I feel bad that I will be departing my Hoshido siblings for the time being since I really got attached to them. I'm also going to miss Kaden too.

But I'm looking forward to Conquest because I'm looking forward to bonding with the Nohr family.

I'm looking forward to it especially for Xander because his death in Birthright really moved me.

And with that, I have two questions to all those who have already or are still playing Conquest:

1) I know many argue that you should only Master Seal a unit until it reaches Level 20, and this is especially true from my experience playing Birthright and Awakening. But with Conquest giving a much more challenging experience overall from beginning to end, would you still recommend waiting on a Master Seal until a unit reaches Level 20 or should you Master Seal a unit right away once the unit is at least level 10?

2) I have the Special Edition version of Fates, and one thing I noticed that's unique to this version is that when you select "Branch of Fate," you automatically are brought to the avatar customization instead of taking you to the screen to buy the digital copy of the routes, apparently because it says beforehand that this "Explore Fates" option allows you to start at Chapter 6 of a route instead of the very beginning. Is this really true? If so, would you recommend using "Branch of Fate" when starting a new route, or would you ignore that and just start the game from the very beginning?

Ugh...Conquest Chapter 10 is giving me such a hard time. I've spent over 2 hours trying to beat it but I just kept dying over and over. I got pissed off I just gave up...

Master Sealing at 20 is even more important in Conquest, because EXP is finite. Even if a unit would serve you better in the short run as a promoted unit, you've simultaneously robbed that unit of up to 10 levels' worth of stat gains and made it so any kills they get will be taking a lot of EXP from an unpromoted unit that would've gained a lot more points. I also had numerous units hitting level cap by the end in Conquest, so that definitely would've been a lot of wasted EXP.

As for Ch. 10 - have you got those Freeze staves handy? Super useful for those sky knights. As was turning Felicia into a Strategist back in Ch. 8.

I just had to waste my only Freeze staff on the last chapter. I guess I'll have to get some more of those then.

I recently added $20 to my eShop account, which I now have more than enough to download Revelations. I might end up playing that one and Conquest back to back but who knows.

So my Wii U gamepad charger is dead, so I tried out some 3DS For Glory.

The first thing I ran into was an AFK Corrin, naturally. Ya know, the Alpharad tactic posted a while back. Good thing I know my For Glory Metagame. I threw them off stage with Mewtwo's F-throw, only for them to recover back on stage and go back to idling, as if I'd fall for it if they remained persistent enough.

I can't wait until my charger gets replaced so I can get back to Anther's Ladder.

Just to let you know, there are new Fire Emblem badges in Badge Arcade. Mostly children units and sprites. I had to spend a dollar to get Ophelia (In fact, 3/4 of my purchases were for Kirby and Fire Emblem).

Would you recommend playing through Birthright before playing Revelations? I'm gunna be totally pooped after two play throughs of Conquest and I'm not to keen on playing Birthright just to try Revelations.

Revelations is the true story so it's probably best to get Birthright out of the way.

Right from the start, I felt like the "correct" order of play would be Birthright > Conquest > Revelation, mainly based on Birthright being the easier of the three, and Revelation coming last for story reasons (being the "true" story or whatever). What I've been hearing from other players has only reinforced that, and that's what I plan on doing once they finally release here.

Preordered Overwatch months ago, so I'm good on that front. :shades:

So speaking of Fates. I started a Normal/Phoenix/Conquest run just for the hell of it, and now whenever I try to start at the branch of Fate for Rev, it defaults to Phoenix as the difficulty, despite me having two Normal/Classic completed saves. Is there a way to get it to stop this? I even deleted my Phoenix runs and it's still doing that.

Am I just going to have to play Ch. 1-5 again? Sigh.

Currtrently downloading Revelation. I know people are saying play Birthright first, then Conquest, and save Revelation for last but i made the decision not to play Birthright because it had too many feels. Also, i'm starting Revelation before i finish Conquest but only because Conquest Endgame BS happened. I shoud be finishing up Conquest in a few hours though.

Look what i found on Miiverse

And I have now bought Revelations like everyone else here. (Although I won't play it until I have beaten Birthright and Conquest)

There's something to be said for an extra Boots, Dragon Herbs and the two Dark Falcon scrolls!

Alas, I just finished downloading Revelation. The wait is over.
I just caught back up to the choice. Going to drive home and then start the real ****. So hype.

Damn, they really did a good job with Azura's design. <3

It might. I'd certainly pay full price. This soundtrack is *amazing*.
