So, I know there are threads about the best gamecube games already, but this one is slightly different.

I can find two big lists, by big gaming authorities, of the best Gamecube games. Those authorities are IGN and Gamespy. The thing is I don't trust those sources 100%. In the past, I've bought games convinced by the reviews of big gaming websites/magazines. The quality of the game doesn't always turn out like I imagined after reading the review. Also, the conflict between the lists of IGN and Gamespy does confirm that there can be discussion about these 'best of's.

The purpose of this thread: correct those lists, by doing one of the following:
1) Add a game the press left out of the top, because it deserves so.
2) Remove a game from the list(s), because it's overrated by the press and doesn't deserve top status.

Attention!
Do not post without providing arguments.
The ranking of the games in the list is NOT important

Melee should definitely be first, then RE 4. Also, I'll hazard a guess that MGS deserves to be higher, but I've never played it.

I'd remove Pikmin 2 (both lists). I find it to be extremely overrated. Not awful, but it gets a lot of hype for a game I found to be par.

Melee should be added to the list again. Yes, it's that good.

And Sonic Adventure 2: Battle should be added to the list.

please people, give arguments if you mention a game. there's no discussion if you just list games.

I would add Tales of Symphonia to both lists. My argument for this is that it's great, and even if you don't agree with me there then you at least have to say it's better than monkey ball. I mean really...

I agree that original Pikmin needs to make an appearance on both lists, and Pikmin 2 should be on both aswell; both are truly excellent. There is no game series quite like it.

I'm a little confused as to why FIFA street made it onto gamespy's list, but oh well. Super Monkey Ball is also a surprising addition. I don't know how Wave Race: Blue Storm made it so high on IGN's list. It's like both lists are a 'top 12 or so and also some other stuff which is ok'.

They should have just done a top 10 for GC. There's too much crap on those lists, and Melee should have been number 1 easy. It ain't my favorite game for GC, but it easily have so much replay value.

I actually enjoyed nba street. Sports games(besides mario stuff) usually bomb out, but nba street, vols 1 and 2 were excellent for gc. Better than the ps1 or xbox version even in its simplicity to play and pick up.
I would add strikers on both lists.

Al right. You guys mention three rpg's: Fire Emblem, Tales of Symphonie, and Skies of Arcadia.
I'm buying one of them for starters. Which one between those three should I get and why?

I'm buying F-Zero GX too, because.. well, I wanna try a Captain Falcon game.
And it's supposed to be a really good racer according to the comments I can find on the web.
Same for MGS and Snake :)

I'm also gonna read up on NBA street a bit..

Please buy Skies of Arcadia. Everywhere I go I hear It's the best game they've ever played. Seriously. The looks my have aged a bit but with memorable characters, vibrant characters and places, fantastic plot, 60+ hours to complete the main story with some of the best music I've ever heard. Plus there's ship battles, bounty battles, legendary creatures battles and pistol battles it has alot of fighting. Or you could take it easy and make discovers, catch moon fish, customise your ship (wait till you see for the games final ship =O ) crew, characters. I really could go on but I think you get the message. Seriously, It's the best game I've ever played. Buy it.

Man, the entering script, swashbuckle rating, improved battle engine. This game is so full of win. And it's not even a walk through the park, it's just TOO good to pass up.

I'd remove Super Monkey ball or Battalion Wars because, for me, they didn't felt good at all.
I would definately add Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, because i loved it.

23- Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

haha ok, you convinced me. I just bought it on eBay.
Only thing that bugs me a bit, is that the gamecube version has been censored a bit. Usually I pass up on those games out of principle, but yeah.. I'm weak.

The lack of Twilight Princess (although it was first released for Wii) is disturbing. Sure, it IS on Wii, but it's still good enough to get on this list. And since Collector's Edition is on there, Master Quest deserves mention, too.

Considering the 1000s of hours I've put into Melee (and continue to put into it to this day), it deserves top spot, no doubt if simply for value.

Phantasy Star Online should be on both lists. 4 player split screen on that game is a lot of fun.

Tales of Symphonia should be on those lists, too. Along with Baten Kaitos, PSO, Fire Emblem Lost Kingdoms, it was one of the few RPGs on the Cube worth playing. Actually, it was probably the best RPG on the Cube.

And IGN really hates Double Dash for some reason. It may be the second worst Mario Kart (Wii is the worst), but it's still a great multiplayer game.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot Skies of Arcadia in my list of RPGs worth playing on the Cube.

Keyy, how's Skies of Arcadia going?
Well, it arrived in the mail on friday. Haven't had time to play, yet. Also due to the fact I just started playing Melee. But it's the first game I'm going to play besides practicing Melee. Excited about it though, I feel like playing something with a good story.
