This Korean site has a scan from CoroCoro comics magazine.

(Full Page)

It has something related to Brawl in it, and both the translated initial post and a couple people who apparently knew Japanese have said that it says that CoroCoro will have Brawl news in it's next issue.

If anyone else who can read it can clarify what exactly is said there, it would be greatly appreciated.

If this is truly a news announcement, hurray.

I'm nowhere near learning Kanji, but that looks like a lot of symbols just to say "Brawl is No. 1!" A translation would be nice...

Top writing next to NO.1 means Brawl is no.1 anticipation [read: most wanted]
Big white writing = Dairantou Smash Brothers X (SSBB)
Yellow writing = Coro Coro Ouendan Kesseida, I have no idea what that means,
but it's something to do with the Cheer Squad.

Edit: That isn't a recent issue of the mag either.

It has to be at least fairly recent, as I can see a Pokemon Battrio arcade cabinet on there, and that was only revealed like last Monday or so.

Sounds like a sequel to the Japanese version of Elite Beat agents. Cool.

Yeah, it's probably an article detailing Ouendan 2, which just got an official release date the other day, along with the Japanese release of Phantom Hourglass.

E for All isn't not the new E3. E for All is in October.

E3 still exists, but it's called the E3 Expo (most redundant name ever) and takes place on July 11th-13th.

And now it's all over the Internet. I am awesome.

Also, 'Ouendan' doesn't necessarily mean the game of the same name. Others have interpreted it as saying that the magazine itself has a 'support group', or something to that effect.

I'm pretty sure what it does say is that it will have Wii game news next issue, although Brawl is not specified in that regard.

I'll guess we'll find out on May 15th, when the new issue supposedly is out (who knows, maybe whatever Brawl news they might have will be announced before then, much like how Nintendo Power hinted at Brawl in their 'next issue' page before E3).

Even if there is no Brawl info coming, I am curious as to just why it's even mentioned on there. Maybe it comes from my lack of understanding of Japanese magazines, but I just don't get it. This issue isn't from back in November when Fox was revealed (considering Darkrai wasn't officially revealed until sometime this year), so wtf?

What I'm wondering is how sites like GoNintendo got "they're revealing a new character!" from this.

Also, the cat with the jacket and sunglasses.

CoroCoro ... comics?

A comic magazine gets the first news about Brawl since November?

I'm not a believer. I bet it's just going to be a SSBB FAQ for people to read. No new news or anything, just another article.

Coro is always getting scoops on new game news, particularly Nintendo games. They were the ones who were releasing Diamond and Pearl pokemon not long ago.

So, new news in May? Well, it will have officially been a year since the first trailer release. I'd be extremely doubtful if they had absolutely no news at this time.

Looking at the original Korean page this scan came from, the description by the guy who uploaded it says there will be new stuff next issue.

The little picture you just posted says (direct, ugly translation) "Wii software Up-to-date full information!"

So it doesn't mention new info, nor does it mention that the software is brawl.

Yeah considering the first trailer was released a year ago in may, news could be expected.
IT'S REALLY BEEN A YEAR SINCE THE FIRST BRAWL TRAILER CAME OUT???!?!?!!

Man! Time sure does fly!!! I wonder how far they gotten in the development.....

-What characters have they chosen?
-How many characters they've completed?
-What are the new items?
-How many stages they've completed?
-What are the new modes?

So many questions, so little time! :(

Both Smash games haven't had a history of numerous nor lengthy delays, so why do so many people automatically assume Brawl will?

Because it's already been delayed over a year.

It was originally launch title.
Correction, it was originally announced as a launch title in MAY 05 when Nintendo officially stated that there was going to be a SSB3. . . . and this happened before Sakurai even agreed to make the game.

As Sakurai said, they were probly just going to throw in some new characters and add Online if he didn't agree to work on it. . . so by all means SSB3 could have been a launch title if that happened.

So heres the deal, the game hadn't started development at all at that point in time and Sakurai wanted to do more than just "add characters and online play" so SSB3 wasn't a launch title. In fact, thats not a delay seeing as A) we didn't even know when the Wii was to come out at that time and B) They weren't even working on the game at the time. . . .(how do you delay a game that isn't even in the works?):ohwell:

And Sakurai has said that it's coming to Japan (at the least) in 07. . .thats the only date we have and he seemed to be very much sure of this.

Well said.

If Sakurai wants to follow the whole 'announce 1 character per week', then he might want to start soon...there are only 37 more weeks left in the year, and with the supposed 30-40 characters that are likely to be in the game, time keeps on slipping.

I just want some Brawl news, dammit! I don't care if it's about an item, a stage or whatever, as long it's news! It's been too long!

You know, that's a pretty crafty way of figuring out when the release date will be, but don't forget there's probably gonna be a whole bunch of new characters announced in the new trailer. That'll take down the number yet to be revealed quite a bit.

Most, if not all inhouse developed Nin games have had delays over the past 4+years. Example, Shiggy said he would be very disapointed if Mario128 wasn't shown at E3 04. Needless to say he, and everyone else was disapointed.

Yeah...also when you figure into the equation the 11 characters that have already been confirmed, plus any new characters that are going to be announced in a new trailer, they might have just enough time to do the weekly update thing starting at the end of May, or hopefully sometime in June.

When you think about it, the lack of Brawl news we're experiencing now might just be the calm before the storm. If they do the whole weekly update dealie, we should have a fun summer ahead of us!
