Hiya, it has been long, too long, since we've had a melee tournament in this area. The last one was over 7 months ago for Phase 7 on Mar. 27th (I do not count the Frutealicious Bubble Tea as a tournament). And so, I am going to go balls out and host a tournament at my own house.

FREE SMASH CHALLENGE FOR 40$:
So my friend and I, while we aren't amazing or anything, decided to issue this challenge. If you can beat both of us in a 3/5 set then we will give you 40$ on the spot. (SUNG and QPAC)
You can only enter this challenge once.


EVENTS AND FEES:

Venue Fee - $0
Melee Singles - $5
Melee Doubles - $5 (for each person)

Yes the venue is free, but please please try to bring setups+TVs I want this to run smoothly


EVENT SCHEDULE:

11:00 AM - Doors open and sign ups
1:00 PM - Melee Doubles
3:00 PM - Melee Doubles Ends
* 30 Min transition time
3:30 PM - Melee Singles Pools (just to seed the bracket)
5:00 PM - Melee Singles Pools Ends
* 30 Min transition time
5:30 PM - Melee Singles
8:30 PM - Melee Singles Ends

Then we do w/e we feel like until everyone leaves (CREWS)

(Don't look at the time at the title of the thread...the times here ^ are correct.)


PAYOUTS:

1st: 60%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 10%


VENUE RULES:

1. Cussing is fine and dandy
2. Please don't steal or do anything like that, I've had a bad experience with it before (reason why I was hesitant to hosting a tournament)
3. Try not to bring food
4. No drugs alcohol cigarettes or any of that please


MELEE RULES:

* Stage Striking is in effect and first person to strike is decided by Rock-Paper-Scissors
* Items are set to off
* The stock is set to 4
* 8:00 Timer
* All sets are best of 3 matches
* All Semi-Finals are best of 5 matches
* All Finals are best of 5 matches
* In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
* No player may choose the stage they last won on
* Ties will be broken by lives, then percentage. In the event of a percentage tie, one stock sudden death will be played
* The Ice Climber Freeze Glitch is banned
* Jigglypuff's rising pound stall is banned
* Peach's bomber stall beneath levels where she is unreachable is banned
* Masterhand is banned
* Wobbling is banned
* Any stage can be played upon as long as both players agree

- Set Order -

* Blind Picks character selection.
* Stage Striking: Players eliminate stages from the Starter Stage List until only 1 remains, and the players then play the first match on that stage. Players strike stages in 1 2 2 1 order.
* The first match is played.
* Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage.
* The losing player of preceding match picks stage for the next match.
* The winning player of preceding match picks character.
* The losing player picks character.
* The next match is played.
* Repeat 4-8 for all consecutive matches as necessary until the set is complete.

It's kind of hard to make a good date on this cause Friday = Christmas Eve, Saturday = Christmas, and someone told me they had to leave on Monday and then next friday people want to wait until midnight for new years I don't know I guess I might try the 23rd but I want to know more people's schedule first

at first we were planning for it to be a local thing, u know, to get dallas back into the melee scene and such. we might ask other cities but its somewhat doubtful at this point.

Yeah, more than one person can enter. That said, depending on how badly we get pwned, there may or may not be a ceiling on the number of challengers (we don't want to go broke, haha).

Really, we're not amazing. The challenge is just an added incentive to get more people in the area to come.
