No I am not talking about super serious conspiracies like the whole 9/11 thing, I am talking about common things. What I mean is, things you'll hear commonly as truth, but are actually myths. For example this past weekend I went on a school ski trip, and for what ever reason a bunch of us got on this topic of cow tipping. Out of the whole bus basically, I was the only one who didn't believe/knew cow tipping was not real. We had this debate about it, and someone even called his mom (who grew up on a farm) who claimed it was real. Her exact words were, "it's popular in Newfoundland." So at our food stop we brought it up again, but this time one of the teachers stepped in and said that cow tipping is impossible. He said that he and like 8 guys went out and tried it, and couldn't, they even tried to back up their minivan into one of them and it wouldn't tip. LOL!! Obviously I was pretty happy about this turn of events, and the topic died down. I recently looked it up and found that cows don't even sleep standing up, and that it'd take at least 5 people to tip a cow, and that's only if it doesn't react. So I want to know, who else has experienced something like this? What other "conspiracies" are out there that lots of us hear and think of them as truth? I am sure there are tons, and it'd be nice to know them.

Cow tipping is just something older kids tell their brothers about to keep them busy, and lol at them. It's just a regional thing like snipe hunting or jackalope hunting.

Something very few people know the truth about... toothpaste isn't non-toxic. toothpaste is toxic read it's label really it says call poison control if ingested and we put this in our mouths up to 3 times a day.

No joke people need to look at the world we live in sometimes.

I thought it was common knowledge that fluoride was not safe for ingestion.

And to say that toothpaste isn't non-toxic is trivial. I can say that water isn't non-toxic in the same way.

You would not believe how many people still think the daddy longlegs is the most poisonous spider in the world.

This is a good one. I keep hearing different stories about this.
One of which is that there is a DIFFERENT spider with the exact same name that lives in some foreign area.

I still don't know if this is true or not.

Why do they promote people to put poison in their mouth and make it taste good so you should shallow it? D*** you toothpaste, also I can't have gel toothpaste because my mouth reacts to it.

Good lord why.

No, they're right, we just don't mind them living in like every corner where we don't dust, we just hate black widows because they're a different color than us.

I hate the daddy longleg one. So stupid. http://insects.about.com/od/noninsectarthropods/f/daddylongvenom.htm

I don't know if the people in the link are correct, but whatever. You can't really define something as "most venomous." Different critters react differently to different poisons (quantity makes the poison anyway, different amounts for different animals), so there is no way to have a universal, "most" venomous/poisonous substance. Except for possibly nothing. If you were exposed to literally nothing, I'm sure you would react almost the same to it as the cat or dog next to you. But even then, there may be substances that kill you faster, which would change from creature to creature.

Cold water to get rings off. This makes no sense, considering cold water will make the ring contract (and at a faster rate than what your finger does).

Man I thought this thread would be about 9/11 conspiracies or Bilderberg or something. But it's all about toothpaste and daddy longlegs and cold water. Those are, like, urban legends. I don't think they qualify as conspiracies. But to each his own I guess...
