MBV is alright...my singer/bass player loves them (and he is one of the most talented songwriters I have ever met, so I respect his opinion). We covered their song "Thorn"

I would actually disagree with you there. Although I would say that my growth as a musician in the past seven years has certainly affected the way I look at music in general, I don't think the fact that I'm a musician should mean that my opinion has more or less weight than anybody else's. I pretty much just like whatever I like and would assume your friend does the same.

Yeah, I have a friend who's into a lot of noise rock stuff. He sent me some MBV stuff a LOOOONG time ago and I found it boring. The same thing happened with Sonic Youth. I think it's mostly my fault for being such a giant snob.

no matter how much hassle, you have to look at it from the rational money based perspective. let's pretend it takes 20 hours of work to handle all financial aid stuff with them. now, let's say they've only giving you 1k a semester. ok, you spent 20 hours, and got 1,000. it was worth the effort, regardless of the bull**** they often put you through. also, lastly i was told, money is good =D. so, just shield grab more, and git er durn =D
