Configuring Controller for Maximum Performance

How do you configure your controller for maximum Meta Knight destruction? I'm especially interested in how you perform your "jumps", because there comes a lot of variety on the boards in how people jump, and jumping and gliding are a very important part to playing Meta Knight.

I keep my controller very close to the default settings, keeping Tap Jump on, and switching the R button to Jump as well. I find using tap jump then using C stick to perform arials is a very quick and reliable way to approach the opponent. I use the R jump to perform SH and FF, and tricks with them. For recovering, I switch around.

How do you configure your controller for your games as Meta Knight? Why do you do it that way? What seems to work and what doesn't seem to work?

Discuss.

The only thing I changed is my L to Special so I can do D.I.C.K. better.

I use Tap Jump all the time cept for short hopping.

Alot of players use tap jump off for better use of uptilt. I personally prefer tap jump on (mostly for dair... its hard to do good dair combos quickly without it.. for me, anyway). I tried tap jump off, but noticed I played alot worse.

Tap Jump is on
Everything else is default

Usually holds up rather well, just having problems acquiring a gamecube controller atm

All default for me.

I suggest keeping on Tap-jump; Shuttle Loops out of shield and U-air strings are serious business.

Hmm, I went all default except I turned Tap jump off... lets me up-tilt a little easier. I use Y for Jump all the time anyway...

I just keep mine at default (GC controller) with Tap-Jump off. I can't stand trying to do up-tilt and accidentally jumping.

Would you believe me if the DK in this vid uses the Wiimote + Nunchuck setup?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE5cbPP5Quk

Its true. Be sure to watch to the end.
I saw the who match The kirby player is clearly using a game cube controller you can tell because of his movement patterns to achieve the same results on a wii+nunchuck takes way to much effort to be so effective. The DK was the slowest Dk player I have seen I wish I knew a DK like that so I could practice gimping him off the kirby had a good game going spacing could probably improve. The reason why he lost was again failing to edge guard effectively which is one of my problems. But the DK soley relied on just his power over kirby being a light char. on FD he would have gotraped. Which made me think if he was a game cube controller would his speed make him more aggressive then just taking hits by kirby. At best DK was a opportunist the match itself was nice because it had a twist however throughout the whole match dk was just getting outplayed.

He didn't place 3rd out of 80 by being "at best an opportunist."

Who gives a **** about what kind of control you use as long as you can perform well with it.

With that, I use default settings with tap jump off. I don't know about you guys but I can easily string Uairs and Shuttle Loop out of sheild without it on.

I saw him in the "loser bracket" in the game you showed me. I don't know maybe its a east coast thing because when I go to tournaments everyone has a minimum skill level of decent and everytime someone has a nunchuck and wii remote its like a free game because they always get elimated first.

Yeah, exactly why I was surprised.

But anyway, back on topic, I think everyone can agree that MK is a tap jump-ON character because of U-air stings and out-of-shield shuttle loops.

I use default with two changes which is: Tap Jump Off and Grab with X.
Will probably change this around as time passes.
