I wanna know if anyone else that plays smash is colorblind. I've always had no ability to differentiate red from green players. In team modes this has been an extremely frustrating problem. Items are also a problem. I have difficulty finding mines. Aparantelly my friends tell me you can see a green dot in the middle of them. The mushrooms are the worst! I never know if I'm going to be a giant or a ******. Hopefully in Brawl this problem has been corrected. I'm hoping someone else has brought this to the development teams attention. Share your experiences with this insanely annoying problem.

Red-green colour blindness is a pain in the ***. However, do keep in mind that the Japanese won't know the difference between green and blue, so either way, one group is screwed.

This really belongs in the General Melee discussion, I think.

I've never had color-blind issues; so I don't know what it's like (although a guy we always play with is color blind, but we don't really pay attention to the colors anyway, just the names.)

They can correct the problem by having more than 3 colors...

What exactly is the difference between the mushrooms? I have some problems telling the difference between purple colors/shades and red and orange.

The Poison Mushrooms have a darker shade, are more purple, the same sort of junk. Nobody actually notices it though, even the facial expression of both mushrooms are somewhat the same.

I'm colorblind. I do horribly on DK64 because all the dark colors run together. :(

Or if I'm fighting dark characters on Battlefield...

In all seriousness, the development team probably doesn't care. People who are colourblind enough to not be able to play a game well are such a small segment of the population that they don't think of it or don't believe it will affect sales.

about the mushrooms, i go by facial expressions. if it is angry, it is bad. other than that, i can't see the development team caring, as color blind people are a minority. sorry though, i hope you find the next game easier to see.

Why don't you just put on a name tag so you can tell who you are that way? But yeah, about the mushrooms, nobody can really tell them apart, you don't have time to identify them in a game so you just grab it and hope for the best.

I can tell the mushrooms apart most of the time. Most of the people I play with can't though, so I'll see a poison shroom and run after it like its a regular shroom. The I'll act like i missed it let them take it. Works like a charm :p

Yeah, just play with names on, I guess. And mushrooms? Everyone has trouble with those. =P

Maybe in Brawl, instead of just different colors, they have different costumes. That would help.

Even though I may not be afflicted with any disability to the eyes,I do still share a slight concern.I wish that they would make more team colors to meet the demands of the plethora of colors of each individual character.

There are way too many instances when I want to play with black Marth on teams. >_>

Something like 10% of males are colorblind. It's not that rare.

I can still play the game well. I just crank up the contrast and pick brightly colored characters.

I'm colorblind as well, and team battles do suck, unless you play red vs blue, or if you can just memorize the player on your team. This fails to work when you have 3 people playing samus.
They need to just have black and white teams.
however, I don't think they're going to change anything for brawl. Unless you buy like HD componant cables, but i don't know if that would really help or not.
now I feel it's neccissary to post my sig.

here's a tip:
1. become pro
2. beat everyone you play
3. shove it in their face by saying: "you lost to a handicapped person!"

no opffense or anything, but a winning with a handicap like that seems slightly difficult in certain conditions.

for all I know, you colorblind folks could 12-stock me.

I'm not colorblind, but I too have the hardest time with the mushroom... so don't feel bad about that. I do feel bad for those who are colorblind though. It must suck sometimes in some games where color is important.

OP, I feel the exact same way. I actually have to stop playing and analyze everyone's characters for a few moments to determine who's on my team. This is why I try use nametags in those situations, though.

At my last tournament, I told my opponent that I was colourblind; we all proceeded to choose Falco with a nametag in variation of "R1-0" or something so that every character looked the same. :p

Ya... I'm colour-efficent, which means that I have problems with red-yellow, but my green-blue is perfect, in any case, I sometimes have similar problems, I have to have a completely opposite colour of the other person I'm facing if I'm the same character, or even a similar character (Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi). Most of the time though, I just put names on, and that helps... I cannot speak for everyone though, because it's not as bad for me, but it still affects me somehow.
