Regardless of whether you can back your statements up with facts (or your interperetion of the facts) or not, I’d hardly call your assessment ‘objective’, as you’ve implied that the character wasn’t even worth a second look, among other things, so don’t preach to me about objectivity and subjectivity. Besides, I did in fact mentionon the previous page that I expect her to get the AT treatment over that of a playable character, so I wouldn’t quite say that I’m setting my self up for disappointment... I just stated that I still think that Bubbles would make a good character addition – and that she shouldn’t be written off completely just yet. At any rate, you've made your position clear enough and I've made mine, so there's no reason to continue this frivolous debate...
They were ELIMINATED, how is that not implying the likely hood that they will not be looked at as a playable character again? It has nothing to do with interpretation, because I'm not twisting anything. Everything is right there, but you seem to interpret it as, Brawl is a different game from melee, but that really has no direct correlation to this issue. And that's the subjectivity I'm talking about, it's what's TRYING to make it seem like there is a reason shown in what he posted that isn't there. I'm making a conclusion based of of the information in front of my face.

They were ruled out of Melee (as PLAYABLE characters) for _____ reason, this reason is constant, so it will still be there when it's time to form the Brawl roster, thus the same outcome is likely to occur again. That is being objective.

On the other hand, you are pulling out this unprovable rule that since this is a new game, those reasons before some how are going to be disregarded, I don't see where you can get that interpretation (but if you have one that can apply please tell me), so it's obviously guided by subjective thoughts. I'm not trying to cause trouble, I'm just being realistic and getting attacked because of it. But whatever, it's not like I haven't gone through this before...

Setting you up the bomb.
Getting attacked? Don't go making a victim of yourself now, especially since you were more or less asking for it with the increasinglyly arrogant tone exhibited in your posts. Perhaps my assessment of you being a troll was mistaken, but seeing how were seemingly selectively attacking two of my character suggestions almost simultaneously, you can't really blame me, now can you?

Now regarding you're BS attempt to paint me as 'subjective', I DID in fact make account for Bubbles most likely NOT making into Brawl in playable format. Look back a few posts and see for yourself. And I could see for myself that Sakurai summurized his process of elimination regarding Bubbles and other ill-fated retro NES candidates in his Ice Climbers post, but again all that it states is that they were rejected due to the limited raw content of their respective games, and if you recall a certain F-Zero racer, limited character content hasn't held back Sakurai before. There is a good possibility that the Ice Climbers were selected due to the simple fact that they were the easiest to work with given their game's original content, among other perks I'm sure, and given their considerable time-contraints for completing the project. Your take on the rejection issue seems to me that since she was rejected before in a previous installment for reasons we're not entirely certain of, she will therefore never be considered again. Doesn't that sound rather silly to you?

Now I think that it's worth mentioning that what was the case during the production of Melee need not necessarily be the case for the production of Brawl. First of all, Sakurai has more free reigns in the development of Brawl than he did with Melee, a much larger development team, and a much less constrained time window this time around. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, A LOT has changed since Melee's release. For instance, Nintendo has exhibited an increased interest in going back to it's roots, as evidenced with the Famicom Mini series, the Virtual Console, and in various tributes in recent games, the Warioware and Animal Crossing titles in particular with regard to Clu Clu Land. Things have gotten better for Bubbles as a character to, who was featured as a secret character in Donkey Kong: King of Swing for the GBA. Does this significantly increase her chances? Not necessarily, but it is something to consider.

Now I think I'm going to end it here, as all that can be said with regard to this issue have pretty much already been said. I am a bit disappointed by the fact that I have brought this discussion back up after several months only for it to errupt into a flame war. For someone that goes by the name 'Oldskool', I'd expect a bit more respect from the NES classics...

ok this is asking for a little too much from Sakuria....
The same can be said of Sonic... And I think that you should try and get his name right (it' spelled S-A-K-U-R-A-I) before you go dictating what Mr. Sakurai should and shouldn't bother with...

At any rate, everyone seems to think Bubbles doesn't have what it takes to be a playable character and she seems more than likely to get the AT treatment anyway, so there isn't really any reason to continue this discussion any longer.

Bubbles for AT... yeah... not really all that exhilarating, but ah well... :embarrass
