Name one gun in smash 4 that resembles a real life gunOk. It's a gun. So what? I really don't understand this argument.

Well, Duck Hunt's Gunmen use pretty realistic firearms. Even if they're 8-bit pixels, they still make synthesised discharge noises and plumes of smoke when fired.Name one gun in smash 4 that resembles a real life gun
Most of my favourite Fire Emblem characters in Smash are female or have female forms:Yay more supporters of Lyn!
To me, Lyn will forever be the most beautiful FE character
Who are your guys' favorite FE females?
Alright, point taken, but I think the 8-bit part takes that away a littleWell, Duck Hunt's Gunmen use pretty realistic firearms. Even if they're 8-bit pixels, they still make synthesised discharge noises and plumes of smoke when fired.
That and their Final Smash is basically execution by firing squad.
I like me some Lyn but she ain't no Tiki.Yay more supporters of Lyn!

Sheriff, Duck Hunt Gunman, Infantry and Tanks.Name one gun in smash 4 that resembles a real life gun
If we're arguing aesthetics as a point against their realism, Bayonetta's guns shouldn't really be much of an issue. They look pretty fantastical in the same way that the Wild Gunmen's armaments look like comical firearms.Alright, point taken, but I think the 8-bit part takes that away a little
'Ridiculous design' Doesn't help in it's favour when it's still clearly a pistol 'high fire rate' how is that an argument that helps? You're acting like the DBZ fans who are saying "What if Toei made an anime for Nintendo? That'll put him in!"
That's the thing, it's a handgun that fires at a ridiculous rate, which is pretty unrealistic as far as handguns go.bruh. . .thats a straight up gun and has every feature of a gun. just because its painted blue and has a keybalde keychain doesnt make it less a a freaking ballistic handgun.
^ This. All of my this. ^Even putting aside the whole gun debate, there's a lot standing between Bayonetta and Smash.
I'm not even going to bring up the stripping or the swearing, I'm sure they could work around it somehow. I'm more so thinking of the fact that she's third-party.
Not that that should stop anyone supporting her, or indeed that it stops me from supporting some of my favourite characters, but it is still a pretty sizable hurdle to overcome.
Would you expect a gun like the above to fire at super rapid rate and have a unusually colorful design? Think about it for a second.
Compare this gun with Bayonetta's and see if it looks like the average real life gun.
That's the thing, it's a handgun that fires at a ridiculous rate, which is pretty unrealistic as far as handguns go.
Why doesn't Snake have guns in his moveset again? Anyone care to remind me?If we're arguing aesthetics as a point against their realism, Bayonetta's guns shouldn't really be much of an issue. They look pretty fantastical in the same way that the Wild Gunmen's armaments look like comical firearms.
I don't support Bayonetta or anything, I'm just saying that Smash does have pseudo-realistic guns.
With pixels, you can't completely tell it from a design pointSheriff, Duck Hunt Gunman, Infantry and Tanks.
The thing these things all have in common is that they're pixelized. However, if the bullets aren't visable, which no doubt they wouldn't be, I don't understand the problem. It's not *bang*=bleeding corpse. It's *bang*=2% damage.
Children aren't as stupid as you think. With pixels, you can't completely tell it from a design point
In the 90's kids put themselves on fire because of Beavis and Butthead. Kids are also much worse these days, saw one with an earring threatening his sister to 'shut the **** up or else' in the shops. The mother did nothing btwChildren aren't as stupid as you think.
*sigh* And even they are, they would struggle to tell the various guns apart, right? In the 90's kids put themselves on fire because of Beavis and Butthead. And she's supposedly 15 years old in the Japanese version.Yay more supporters of Lyn!

8 bit has that effect on people, they only care about realistic things, with 3D graphics*sigh* And even they are, they would struggle to tell the various guns apart, right?
Yes I would if it's an automatic pistol, as in, a pistol with a high firing rate
Why doesn't Snake have guns in his moveset again? Anyone care to remind me?

If you're a Mario character, your chances never die down, unless your name is Waluigi, Daisy or those days of expecting Petey PirranaI still stand by my idea of keeping the guns in the shoes so that they don't have to be loaded and fired the classic way.
But it's getting pretty boring discussing another one of BluePikmin's wanted.
Next thing I want is turning this in the Official BluePikmin discussion thread.
So 'bout thatjumpmanCaptain Toad, do people still think he has a chance or has his fire died down?
Because Snake is a soldier from a relatively realistic series of espionage titles that deal with such themes as child soldiers, nuclear weapons, infidelity and socio-political intrigue? It's kinda hard to make those guns look silly or fantastical without compromising the integrity of the character. Why doesn't Snake have guns in his moveset again? Anyone care to remind me?
like Fox's Blaster and Samus' Plasma Pistol, and if they're observant enough, the gun Falcon carries.8 bit has that effect on people, they only care about realistic things, with 3D graphics
Maybe because having infinite ammo is a genuine impossibility. How would you do that in gameplay? Press B to constantly shoot bullets that flinch? This is probably the closest automatic pistol I could find, and while it shoots at a rapid rate, it doesn't have the unrealistic longevity of Bayonetta's guns can keep shooting at and have infinite ammo and recharge at the same time.
I know Link and Villager have deep pockets, but come on! Everyone has infinite everything. Bayonetta would be no different.Maybe because having infinite ammo is a genuine impossibility. How would you do that in gameplay? Press B to constantly shoot bullets that flinch?

Samus' paralyzer is also a whip, and the blaster got an update, remember?like Fox's Blaster and Samus' Plasma Pistol, and if they're observant enough, the gun Falcon carries.
Snake has a tranquilizer, something the PMDT remembered and used. Bayo's guns still look realistic other than keychains, not to mention Bayo's character is definitely adult tooBecause Snake is a soldier from a relatively realistic series of espionage titles that deal with such themes as child soldiers, nuclear weapons, infidelity and socio-political intrigue? That's not to say that Snake can't be silly or goofy in Smash, because he is, and that's why I love him as a part of the roster. But while his character and lore may be quirky and have some humorous moments, his fighting style is relatively authentic and feels like you're playing an actual human being: both aspects of his character pay homage to his source material, the quirky, zany lore juxtaposed with the serious martial arts and realistic weaponry. He can pick up and play with a Ray Gun or a Nintendo Scope all he likes and it's fine, because that's an extension of his character and not inherent in his actual style or source material - in much the same way that Ganondorf can fight with Lip's Stick while wearing a Bunny Hood, he would nevertheless seem very silly if his default moveset featured him throwing kittens and punching rainbows. So, in essence, it's because Snake would have to wield realistic firearms or not wield firearms at all: zany magic pistols or pixelated handguns just wouldn't fit with the character's default moveset.
From a purely aesthetic perspective, Sakurai has said that realistic firearms wouldn't fit into the tone or style of Smash. Operative word being realistic. Even so, he's evidently okay with the Wild Gunmen shooting their foes with what seem to act very much like authentic firearms, right down to the sound effects and visual cues; their Final Smash literally has the opponent(s) gunned down en masse by a firing squad!
Then that's the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian to educate their children, not the fault of the creator of a fictional universe to babysit the children with appropriate imagery. In the 90's kids put themselves on fire because of Beavis and Butthead. Kids are also much worse these days, saw one with an earring threatening his sister to 'shut the **** up or else' in the shops. The mother did nothing btw
I think Captain Toad has a good chance of making it into Smash - if not now, then I hope he's still got his fans by the time the next game rolls around. Judging by the creator's excitement at making Captain Toad a recurring character, though, I think he'll be okay.I still stand by my idea of keeping the guns in the shoes so that they don't have to be loaded and fired the classic way.

With 'genuine impossibility' I meant 'impossible in real life'I know Link and Villager have deep pockets, but come on! Everyone has infinite everything. Bayonetta would be no different.
Now I remember MasaeAnela's profile pic when she did DKCRBANANETTA.
You asked how they'd do that in gameplay. That was my unimpressed wording of "they already have"With 'genuine impossibility' I meant 'impossible in real life'
Yes, Snake does indeed have a tranquiliser - a tool that is, by definition, a non-lethal method of disposing of adversarial targets. I don't see how that's relevant to the topic at hand.Snake has a tranquilizer, something the PMDT remembered and used. Bayo's guns still look realistic other than keychains, not to mention Bayo's character is definitely adult too

I want to stop talking about guns as my inner COD hater is fumingCan we now talk about how Bayonetta is impossible since she's naked when she wins?
i believe captain toad has decent chance, but I honestly believe that Paper Mario would have more chance.I still stand by my idea of keeping the guns in the shoes so that they don't have to be loaded and fired the classic way.

I'd seriously beg to differ with what little I've played of her game to the bolded. She dispatches angels in some of the most gruesome ways imaginable. Those torture attacks aren't exactly non violent...(At least she doesn't swear hardcore and attack in a very violent manner like Travis Touchdown, that's more of a realistic thing than Bayonetta in combat.)
Score! Captain Toad's winning over even previous haters.Captain Toad is a character that despite my hatred for Toad, would welcome in open arms
Eh, Paper Mario, Captain Toad.i believe captain toad has decent chance, but I honestly believe that Paper Mario would have more chance.
I really don't expect him, but he's a worthy addition. The degree of how it's worth differ if I look at other candidate however which makes him a bit low in priority.

My main problem with Toad was always "What's so special about them?" Captain Toad is an individual. I won't support him but I won't detract eitherI'd seriously beg to differ with what little I've played of her game to the bolded. She dispatches angels in some of the most gruesome ways imaginable. Bandana Dee not being in the game at all is stupid, worse than Anthony Higgs not getting any mention yet Adam Malkovich (vomits) gets a trophy saying he unfortunately died. Yeah, 'unfortunately'Hey.
I don't hate Captain Toad as a character or anything.
I just want Waluigi as a Mario character and Bandana Dee as a "Promoted Generic" first.
...I'll concede on the Wa for this game because he's clearly not gonna happen via DLC and Captain Toad can get in just fine after Bandana Dee, Inklings, and maybe Ganon >w>
