Hack, slash, and smash your way to victory in this red-hot arcade adventure from the award-winning development studio, The Behemoth! Featuring hand-drawn characters, Castle Crashers® delivers unique hi-res illustrated visuals like nothing you've ever seen before.

Play with up to three friends locally or over Xbox LIVE® and discover the mind-boggling magic and mystery in the amazing world we have created just for you. Save your princess, defend your kingdom, and crash some castles! Play with more than 20 unlockable characters, 40 weapons to customize your hero, and an arsenal of combos and magical attacks to choose from.
So. Castle Crashers. It's made by the Behemoth, the same guys who made Alien Hominid. The game is old school meets new school, being a side scrolling beat 'em up at the heart, but adding a leveling system as seen in many modern day RPGs. When you level up, you're given a certain amount of points to assign to different skills. You've got four skills, Strength, Magic, Defense and Agility. The game starts off allowing you to select between four Knights. Green Knight, Red Knights, Blue Knight and Orange Knight. They possess the same abilities, excluding magic. Green Knight can poison enemies, Red Knight can electrocute enemies, Blue Knight can freeze enemies and Orange Knight can set enemies ablaze.

Alright, so I downloaded the game on Wednesday. Who else is playing it? I know Mr.GAW is, as he's on my friends list, but any of you who have Xbox Live, I strongly urge you to download this game. At least give the free trial a go. If you buy the full game, let's play some co-op. I absolutely love the game, the gameplay is fun (even by yourself, and I'm sure co-op multiples it by at least four[/badjoke]), the hand drawn art is absolutely beautiful, the music is bumpin' as well as epic, and yeah, you really need to download this game. My buddies who I usually play co-op titles with are all in back-to-college mode, so I've got this game here that begs to be played co-op, and haven't a soul to play it with. I beat the game by myself last night, had some good laughs towards the end of the game (well, throughout the entire game, but the end had me laugh quite a few times), and even though I've now got the game beat, I want to play it more. I want to unlock more characters. I want to find more animal orbs. Let's go, guys.

Yeah, I know it's fifteen dollars you guys, but this is probably the best valued game on Marketplace. Please don't let the pricetag scare you away from this awesome game. There's so many characters in the game, and a ton of weapons and stuff too. The online hasn't been working so great for me though, in terms of arena and all you can quaff. It drops me probably a third to half of the time, and I have a great connection. No biggie though. Cashed, once I beat the game once with my buddies I'll probably be up for some co-opage, if you're still interested by then. We need to get some TF2 going to. Just need to find some time. Time sucks bro. I don't feel so bad about giving so much of my summer to videogames now that I barely have time for them at all. And w/ fable, gears, fallout, and rb2 also. Hot ****.

Anyways, yeah. Castle Crashers is sick stuff. You aren't a true gamer if you don't download this bar raising XBLA game.

I unfortunately don't have a 360, but games like this and Banjo-Kazooie are persuading me. Low prices mean nothing; anyone ever play Phantom Dust on the Xbox? Easily one of the best games on the system, and at a starting price of $20, it was FAR MORE than worth it.

This game looks great.

Seems pretty interesting. I don't play on picking up a 360, though this and Banjo Kazooie may do me in. Pretty cool. If I get another game that's Banjo-Kazooie level for the 360, I'll probably pick one up.

I hear the guys from Newgrounds really did a great job on this one.

I'm hoping they finally get that Alloy game made, now that they're getting games out in bulk (I think they've had three so far).

I REALLY want this game, but I don't own a 360. Alien Hominid was awesome, I have the game for GameCube.

Castle Crashers looks really stylish, and if I had a 360 I seriously would buy it.

Insane mode is way too hard by myself. I can't beat the... fuzzy black head... the boss in the Thieve's Forest. Hurry up and beat the game, GAW. :C

The Behemoth has really outdone themselves with Castle Crashers. Anyone with a remote interest in old-skool beat-em-up will find everything they ever dreamed of with this game. Its about 12$, definately worth the buy, but I'm all about supporting the independant developers :).

Great game. Worth it every penny and then some.
The little bits of humor littered though out the game is awesome. Especially the T2 reference when the Cyclops dies. That was just epic!

I'm still on Full Moon. Very hard to do by myself. Anyone have any tips for when I'm at that uphill area?

Just gotta level up your guy and abuse the hell out of your magic. That level took me a few tries, too.

Wherever McFox tells me I am.
So I downloaded the demo and wasn't too impressed. The four characters are all pretty much the same, and the beat-em-up action is nothing special. Can someone please reassure me that it gets much better past the demo?

Well you unlock a lot more characters, abilities, and weapons. The levels are really varied as well, but honestly, if you didn't see the potential in the demo, I really wouldn't reccomend this game to you.

Well the demo only gets you to the first boss, which is a pretty standard boss. Like you don't even see some of the really cool/weird ones like Catfish or Cyclops.
Also in the demo you really don't play enough to level you Magic up enough. So you don't see some of the later spells. Also you don't get to see the cool weapons and animal orbs in the demo.

Basically the demo is just there to show you a rough (and I mean very rough, you don't even get some of the cooler combos that early on in the game) idea of what the combat is like.

Weird ones. Mostly enimes you've beaten. From the barbarian and peasant, to a skelon and Alien Hominid. There's like 20 of them.

Wow, this game has been out since August? I had no idea. I hadn't heard of it until like...Friday, when my entire group of friends got it and now they've been playing it like crazy ever since. I played the demo and it seems fun enough, so I'm going to get some Microsoft Points to buy it.

In regards to the patch, though; what exactly does it do? Does it just fix those glitches, does it have something else, does it not fix the glitches at all...?

They haven't officially said what this patch fixes but I'm pretty sure it fixes the online co-op which was really bad/unplayable before.

Do the arcade games even drop in prices?
If youre waiting for that, might as well get it since its only a five buck diffrence. Seems like too big of a trade off to wait so long just for that. Unless youre like ten years old and cant work...even then you could shine shoes or shovel driveways. No excuses.

Certain ones do drop in price and some drop in price for a limited amount of time. I can only see arcade games such as "Castle Crashers" dropping in price in another year or so.

And I don't feel like spending $15 on an arcade game when an xbox original game is the same price. (1200 Microsoft points = $15) This is why I only have a few full version xbox arcade games on my 360 : Hexic HD, Aegis Wing, Undertow, Dash of Destruction and Braid (won a code in a contest).

If Microsoft wants more people to buy arcade games, then they should lower the prices to appeal to them. Also, I feel that the XNA games shouldn't cost any money because most of them are crap (i.e. Painball and RPaint).

I downloaded the demo the other day and I thought it was great fun, like a Medieval Streets of Rage. Once I get the points Im definitley getting this game, I need more co-op games to play with my friends.

Yeah I can see your point now. I hate that random points system they have. You purposely have to pay more to get alot of the games cause they wont let you pay just what you need. And those XNA games really are a crap for the most part. I gave up hope with them, only playing one if it is highly recommended by someone I trust, even then its iffy for me.

But I do still play Castle Crashers, and Ive had it since it launched. Its most fun when you get freinds to play with for sure. Every now and then I do play by myself to grind up a character or two. One of the few games I have that I keep playing this long after beating.
