Check out this thread...http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=167914...it shows what people think Snake should do against Ike. (I have a post in there too, check it out.)

I really think you should use grenades a lot more against Ike. The person you faced seems to be a bit aggressive. If you pull out a grenade and immediately use shield, you can block his attack, and roll away. While that is happening, he will hit the grenade and get hurt while you're safely rolling away. You can even pull out a grenade right when Ike hits you. It will hurt you but, it will also hurt Ike. This can give you some space. The aggressiveness will decrease as you fool around with the grenades.

You should really practice your turning and overall speed of your attacks. Some of the attacks (like the AAA combo) weren't even facing the way of your opponent. Just practice this by going around stage in training mode and hitting the CPU around as fast as possible.

You REALLY need to use side step dodging and air dodging against Ike. It's crucial that you side step dodge because Ike is easily punished by missing. Also, Ike can't do much if he misses with an attack while you air dodge. You can get away pretty easily by air dodging against Ike. Just get used to Ike's timing...it's a little strange compared to other characters.

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=164628 Look at this thread because it contains many links to tricks you can do with grenades which can render the Ike to nothing if used right.

Oh by the way...those dashes were pretty predictable. Just be carefull not to use it that much because the opponent will learn how to get around it.

One tip about Snake is that his tilts are quite powerful. Heck, he can KO things without even using a single smash attack.

Reading the stickies helps to not suck. Especially the mortar slide dissertation if you're having trouble with that.

Geez it's almost like people just come up with a thought, and hit new thread before even skimming the board. Oh wait, it is.

It is just a select few. This whole "bandwagon" thing is dumb. But, don't assume everyone that goes to the Snake forums regularly is not friendly. I gladly helped out.

thats true i guess it just bothered me that he comes asking for help and some people just call him a bandwagon when hes actually been playing snake since 4 am march 9th ( thats when we unlocked him) and i actually got really annoyed by this because he would only use snake and we used to play with smash balls im glad thats over though

Yeah, I understand. I hate presumptions too.

Ha ha, at least it's not as bad as facing a friend who played Sonic and dodged every attack until a smash ball popped up. :p

The Snake boards used to be one of the friendliest boards. I am one of the people who was around since March on the Snake boards and I have noticed an increase in new people.

On-topic. You need to use more 'nades. Snake has an advantage over Ike in his projectiles and stage-control. 'Nades are both a great offense and you can shield one if your opponent rushes you to make him take damage. Your mortar-slides were a tad predictable. You should use the d-smash mine more often. Doing so can deter someone from heading in that area.

Cecil had a better explanation than me though in ways you could improve.

The snake is prows fiercily but cannot scrach it's back because it is the zoo people are aware of that the snakes have no arms and wishes to scratch its back

One more thing, am I using the cypher wrong? cause arturo says i am but i dunno. He says i shouldn't go over him but to aim for the edge.

OP, you don't "suck" per se, you just have an extremely predictable way of playing. Creativity always helps you in newer matchups. I know when I know what my opponet will try to do, I immediately try to get around it, attack somewhat spontaneously, and free myself up to do it again. Most people with strategies ( unfortunately, I tend to be one too when I sandbag--which is a LOT) tend to keep trying to execute their strategy until a one-stock deficit makes them realize they're not creative or crafty enough. Don't be that person.

I would say don't play your game, do anything to make your opponet play a game you know YOU can defeat or one your opponet is not smart/ good at playing.

All my greatest/ suprising wins have come from hours of practice, thinking about characters and past events, patience, and picking my spots whenever available.

ALWAYS improvise. I'm mediocre with Snake, but I don't think you do enough or use what you do wisely, with him.

You don't have to aim for the edge. Just going over the opponent will just take a fast fall, and many air dodges. Do the last air dodge near the ground and roll away as you hit the ground. That's what I would do.

Thank you so much Cecilanius you've been a great help, everyone else was spectacular too. I shall take these tips and more to the stage more often than ever now.

Well snake isn't really for beginners because like it's choosing when and where to place your bomb(B down)
and using B left or right
