Can you guys give me advice to fighting Lucas spammers?

The whole battle, he kept running away so he could spam his PK Fire. If I tried an air attack, I'd get PK Thundered. So I had a hard time getting close. I pointed out to him that he was spamrunning, but he did not care. Finally, it came down to Charizard with 80% vs. Lucas with 10%. And the spamming didn't stop. But then he PK thundered himself of the edge and I won.

Him: "I should have won that!"
Me: "NO JOHNS! NO JOHNS!"

But yeah, I have a problem. I've always had issues adapting to spammers. And Lucas is no exception. This guy will literally run away from you to spam PK Fire, only to c-smash you when you get close, then he will run away to repeat process. Air attack is hard since he releeases a PK thunder which from Lucas can continue to go through your opponent. Even if you dodge that, you may leave yourself open for Lucas's U-Smash.

I'm trying to improve. But I figured the Lucas users could help me. After all, who would know Lucas better than Lucas users, right? Any advice?

He uses very punishable moves. Dodge PKT and smash him. Against lucas you can't just rush in.
You have to set him up. But it really depends a lot on who you use. Lucas has big advantage over big slow people.

If you're using PT, I'd suggest getting really good with Squirtle. He's got some rad air approaches and speed. His u-smash is a decent finisher too.

If you want to really give spammy Lucas a hard time, try using G&W (bucket = death).

If you can manage to airdodge through PK Thunder, Lucas is a sitting duck while controlling it.

That's a tough situation. I can recommend using one of 2 solutions.

1 - Fight fire with fire, so to speak. Use Lucas (or Ness) and use the PSI magnet to eat all of his projectiles. That should force him to lay off of the PK Fire/ PK Thunder, and maybe you'd have a chance at hand-to-hand combat.

2 - Use someone with a reflector, preferably Fox, to nullify all of his spammification. Fox is also much faster than Lucas, and I think that you could dominate him in that sense.

I don't know if that helped, but this is just one Lucas mainer's opinion. An alternate solution is to use Squirtle's side B to get close and attack. Squirtle has invincible frames when it's inside its shell!

If your using PT try not to use Ivysaur dat much b/c of the super effectiveness of pk fire(this has been proven) and like Trozz said get good with Squirtle and rack up some damage, its hard for Lucas to keep up with that little guy.
As for Charizard use him to KO Lucas if u can.
And if your looking for some characters that are strong against Lucas use Marth(most Lucas mains fear him the most), G&W, or Zelda

Try using squirtles water gun if he is next to the edge using pk thunder. Other than that I cant think of any advice.

short hop air dodge that PKT and he's a sitting duck, grabbing is your friend as lucas's tether grab incredibly slow. Like someone else said try and gimp his recovery with water gun. (PKT2)

Squirtle and Charizard seem to do the best against... everyone for me. Minimize ivysaur unless you really like her (her razor leaf and bullet seed can't be gobbled up by magnet which is nice)

Play him more, you'll figure his tactics out and realize that fighting lucas isn't that bad

Abuse the game physics and SH aerial dodge the PK spama! Also I guess you didn't walk up to him did you? You were caught up into trying to attack when he was doin the same thing and you tried the same thing while he had an advantsge. Walking up to him and perfect shielding him will abrutly stop PK and PHT2 spam and as for c-stick spam if you walked up to him all of your options are availaiable. SAimple yet effective lotion.

There's definitely something to be said for just sitting back and making them come at you. This may lead to some strange gaps in fighting, but it will force them to come up with something better than pk spamming
