It’s Pit times two this week. Following up yesterdays music is Pit’s Final Smash, Palutena’s Army. If you followed my advice and checked out <a href="http://www.flyingomelette.com/kidicarus/kidicarusshrine.html">The Kid Icarus Shrine</a> you’d recognize a lot of the attack. Anyway, less jabbering, more Final Smashing!

Now I warn you, I really liked what I read at the Shrine, so I’m going to put as much history into this description as I can. Why? I like retroness [Ed. note: Retrocity? Retroism?]. Sue me.
The attack is called Palutena’s Army.
<p style="text-align: center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/palutena.gif" alt="More detailed than Princess Peach, that's for sure." /></p>
Palutena is the Goddess of Angel land, and the one who gave Pit his Bow and Arrows, which aided his escape from The Underworld. She once again comes to Pits aid in Smash Bros Brawl, admittedly, looking less pixelated.
<p style="text-align: center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pit_070809a-l.jpg" alt="No, that's not a Meteos behind her." /></p>
While she herself doesn’t physically do anything (that we can tell), she does call forth a platoon of Centurions.
<p style="text-align: center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/centurion.gif" alt="No, they aren't garden gnomes." /></p>
These guys were turned to stone in Kid Icarus, and as Pit progressed through the game, he was able to free them. When you got to the final boss stage, the ones you’d saved would turn up and help fight the boss. The more you saved, the “easier” the final fight became. While they did help, they were weak, with one hit finishing them off.

Which is rather how these guys fight. They’ll appear and join in the fray at high speeds, “splitting the sky like a storm.” However after they do an attack, they’re beaten. Picture Unown from Smash Bros Melee, or Beedrill from Smash 64.

One note: Pit is still glowing while the attack goes on. Is he invincible during the attack? Can he move around? As usual, this update just leaves more unanswered questions. Though, did you get the feeling we’d seen Palutena before?
