So I was thinking... since everyone tends to live longer in Brawl, and there seems to be some pretty decent sized stages so far, do you think the tournament stock standard will stay at 4?
Or do you think it will be changed to 3?
What do you think will happen, and what do you think should happen?

None of us have played the final version yet. There's no way to tell.

Who cares? In the long run, the only level anybody will want on is FD anyway...

You have never been to a tourney I assume

That stage is not that played, especially since the characters that are good there are played a lot, its not often a smart counterpick.

Stop assuming tourney players are as simple minded as flat = fair.

Anywhoo, did you know in melee it used to be 10 in some tourneys?

Time will tell.

I really think that the floaty/slow-ness will not be in the final version. My reasoning follows as this:
If characters fell as fast as they did in melee, many people would be turned away from Brawl with the silly yet possible reasoning "Isn't the point of the game to stay on the stage? How come I fall off so fast. This game is too hard" blah blah close-mindedness. I know not many people will think like this, but Nintendo's new goal seems to be to get as many people as possible (heck, the event is called E for ALL), and, being as smart as it is, Nintendo figured that if they made the characters floaty, it would discourage less, while keeping the smash fans who will buy the game anyhow.

To answer the question at hand I think the stock will remain at 4 because I think that the characters will not be as floaty as they were at E for All.

Lol...we will have to see. Stop complaining though, I don't care if the game is "easy". If you are facing a skilled opponent, the difficulty level will still be the same.

Well, since it is quite likely the final game will be very much like it was at E for All, what if it stayed pretty much the same and the characters and physics remained the same?
Then do you think it would still stay at 4?

There probably will be a few changes from the demo to the final version...but I doubt anything as major as that. The demo is supposed to give everyone a good impression of what the game will be like. That includes the floatyness. Sorry man.

It's speculation and opinions. I'm not asking anyone to look into their crystal ball for me.
I'm sick of idiots that say "We won't know until we play it, waaah."

That's why it's called your thoughts and opinions.

It will be unknown until that game comes out. As far as I know, SSB 64 had 5 stocks.

Plus kills will be slower because videos on Youtube of random people have fool us. What if that person was a total rolldodge noob? People will find out ways to speed up their styles and fight faster.

Thank you.

The stages in Melee differed in sizes, yet the rules stayed as 4 stocks.
We'll have to wait and see.

Read Gimpy or any credible Smash player's experience. We're not basing on n00bs.

1) If everyone is living longer now, why would there be 5 stocks instead of 4?
2) Seems camping has been nerfed a lot due to projectiles all being nerfed. Sucks to be you.

You can quote more than one post at a time you know.

How often do matches run out of time in Melee tourneys? I don't see a reason to change if it doesn't happen that often.

Lol @ triple post.

Anyway I agree with Cereal Rabbit, saying that people will find new techniques and ways to speed up the style of play.

We haven't played anywhere near enough to say anything for sure about tournament usage for anything.
