It depends on when the double negative is used. As a statement - Tu n'est jamais la - or a question - Pourquoi tu n'as jamais rien compris? - to actually answering a question.

- T'as pas fait la vaisselle, hein?

- Non!

Here, you're answering by double negative to make a positive statement.

I just ****ed my answer. Should have just been "I don't want to lose money, No thanks."

Anyway, some guy I chatted and tried to hook him up for the weekly said he was afraid that his Wii would be stolen, and would rather not come.

Are there security mesures for that to not happen? Or should I just stay infront of my wii for the whole evening?
zaf it looks like a french class we should try to learn something from here.
No Wii's ever got stolen, and if your friend can come without bringing a Wii if he is so worried about it being stolen

i leave my wii at the cafe when i go to eat, and it is always there when i come back. no one is going to take off with it, most of the time people are using it. someone will notice if someone else is trying to steal it while they are playing.

Double negatives excludes replies, since its not in the same sentence to begin with, even in french. Ergo, your example has nothing to do with double negatives.

So what is it?

Only two negatives statements?

If they are only two negative statements as a whole, why does the answer means that you did do it - a positive statement.

You know, like multiplying negative numbers?

Sorry but double negative statement exist both in french and in english, even if you might not use them or if it seems ungramatical.

I'm not a french expert, but University taught me that in logics.

It does work like that, your totally right on that one, but your example wasn't structured like that and neither was your initial statement. Just saying :)

I'll go this wednesday, if it's still at gamers world? If it's at kirts place I need a place to stay after.

Btw: I say we should continue going to kirts place, since we have the opportunity, and 6-11pm isn't enough practice for my 3 new characters. =P

I'm still unsure if I can come. I want to, but I don't want to disappoint everyone by saying I'm bringing my Wii and not make it.

kirts family is coming back from vacation soon, so i dont know how many more he can hold. With that being said, a lot of you could always come to chateauguay to smash fests at my place whn kirts family comes back and people can stay over. cheateauguay isnt that far, stop johning.

EDIT: my pool is up, so we could have smash/pool/rockband-fests lol. and i have a lot of room in my basement for fests, ask agony lol. i just needa clean

If kirt doesn't mind for the time being, i'd be totally up for that with Rock band of course from Zaf. =)
yea if kirt is cool with it, ill gladly bring it again

Yeah, I was thinking about your basement, zaf. It's really spacey and comfortable, we could definitely use this place after kirts family is back.

Mind letting me stay over your place zaf, wednesday after the fest/weeklie? We could play a bit the next day when we get up, if you don't mind.

Wow my gf just moved onto Queen Mary 2 weeks ago and I even pointed out how sick her street is (after noticing Gamer's World amongst other things) and I just joined Smashboards sometime this month... And now I just found out about these bi-weeklies or weeklies or wtv they are now thanks to this thread... Crazy coincidences... So as you see I'm new to this and might be joining these weekly events!! (I'm not new to SSBB that's for sure :p)

sounds good, anyone else want to come?

Nah. I just don't get to play it much :) I doubt I'll lose much skill if I take a break for a month again, right?
agreed, not much skill is lost when taking a break with brawl

Ill be there this wednesday with my wii/brawl.

Coming wednesday as well, im out of the loop, but we can at least try to draft the leaderboards this week and see how that works.

Also, as for smashfest at my place, i dont mind them, but im busy with work this week and the following one to have a big event like the last, the most i can get is maybe people on the two tvs i have for maybe an afternoon into the early night, since ill probably be working the following day.

If ever i have a consecutive day offs, ill let you people know and we can try at another big event.

Were not the ones organizing this, so even having one tv of melee is kinda agaisnt what their intending, is it not?

IMO, if we have more then the simple 4 tvs then having some melee shouldnt be out of the question
