yea. FIRST OFF...the majority of n00by people on these boards frequent the brawl section. Take no offense, if you're an exception, but don't deny me that truth.
In fact, the same people who like bowser jr, tend to be the same n00bs who like waluigi, and pretty much any rediculously lame character.

everybody who said toad isn't as original as bowser jr is an idiot.
Toad..is a mushroom-person...bowser jr. is just a small version of bowser, duh.

Toad deserves to be in more, becuz of his history. He was the main character in Wario Woods, he's been competing since mario kart for SNES, and continues to be listed w/ the rest of the crew to this day in Mario Party 8. (u don't see bowser jr in mario party 8, do u?)

Bowser jr. is just a cheap fad, that they are starting to let die now.(not to mention toadette is equally as lame)
a couple KoopaKids are who really deserve to be in brawl(but that will never happen...)

If my biasness hasn't made it clear, toad is far by my favorite videogame character period.
Moves though?
Turnips. ChargeJump(mario2)
made up moves on the fly...a charged spore move that could act sorta like wheezing. an alternate upB where he uses his hat as a parachute. etc.
his stats are obviously best represented via mario 2: speedy, no lag, noticable strength, very low jumps and poor recovery
Quoted for truth.

I love Toad, and if any other Mario character gets implemented in Brawl, I hope it's him. Bowser Jr. may be original in the sense that he can utilize other attacks other than his father, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's just too many... Bowser's. I'm against duplicate or similar characters in appearance and/or moves (like clones, for example.)

Toad is original in the sense of moves and appearance. His speed from Super Mario Bros. 2 could be implemented (as well as his lack of jumping ability), his moves from both Wario's Woods and Mario Party could be used and well as many other minor details that could complete the character... very well. Look what they did with Captain Falcon, and he's a character that only appeared in racing games.

I wonder why people keep bringing up Captain Falcon as an example of a character who never fought in his games.
As if it was hard to imagine moves for some flamboyant body-builder in spandex.
Game and Watch, Ice Climbers, (Pikachu and Mewtwo,) and so on, that's where the awesome's at.

Another way of looking at it, is who is getting the most attention from Nintendo at the moment. Bowser Jr is beginning to appear in more and more games as a direct enemy of Mario, Toad is more and more being relegated to supporting and minor roles. A few years ago Toad would have been a favourite for a Smash Bros (I remember a few people being upset he wasn't in Melee), whereas now I can barely remember the last time he had a significant role in a game. Nintendo will be taking recent form into account as well as history, and going on recent form Bowser Jr pretty much has it wrapped up.

Bowser Jr, however, is having more and more influence on the Mario games. He has been in all Mario Parties after 4 (I recon), was the main villain in Sunshine (not counting Bowser) and is now also playable in Yoshi's Island DS (which is freaking hard btw, I'm still having troubles with world 6 or 7). And this guy has some cool moves. He can spit fire, is very athletic, fast and nimble due to his length and he could (I say, could) use his paintbrush to attack and/or draw things (how about drawing on an opponent to make them slower because of to the gooey paint?)

I find that amazing, given how he's not even in any of the Mario Parties or YIDS.

Both characters have good chances, and they are most likely going to be in.

But Toad is the character I want to get in the most, and I hate Jr. Guess which one I voted for.

It's so nice seeing Kero and Iggy weigh in on this issue: having my fellow Toad fanboys around certainly helps out. =)

As far as my luck goes, Toad will not be in Brawl because I want him to be. But should the planets align and my wish be granted, I will be one happy Smasher. Toad has been my favorite Mario character since the days of SMB2. I would cruise through each and every level as my little mushroom hero, taking advantage of his intense strength and speed. Needless to say, it was disappointing to see him relegated to host status in the first few Mario Parties, but his dominance in Mario Kart (especially 64) was a welcome addition to Toad's résumé. Animal Crossing introduced me to Wario's Woods, which I found quite enjoyable--partially because of Toad, of course. Seeing him in MP5-8 and MK:DD made my heart fill with joy, but his exclusion from Melee really hurt. I thought it would finally be Toad's time to shine; I can only hope that Sakurai gives him his chance this time around. I think that, while Sakurai acknowledges that both have sizable fanbases, Toad would have an edge because of his seniority in the series and his eternal presence in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Surprisingly, it's not Bowser Jr. that I hate. It's Petey Piranha. Bowser Jr. is interesting in that he is evil, just like Daddy, but he's more agile and at least he speaks. Petey, on the other hand, stands there, flaps his leaves, squeals like a mandrake, and vomits sludge. Wow. There's a real winner if ever I saw one. =/

In short, Toad for Brawl. Enough said. =)

Actually, Bowser Jr's first game was Super Mario Sunshine - where he was the game's main villian. Since, he has starred in numerous Mario Spinnoffs (like Mario Kart) and also as the main villian in New Super Mario Bros.

But hey, welcome to Smashboards.

Yes, that is correct. Just to further clarify, the villain of Yoshi's Story was Baby Bowser, not Bowser Jr. Two separate characters. :)

Haha, this is the first thread I've ever made that was actually rated. Thanks guys. =)

Well, it looks as though Bowser Jr is winning by a large margin. I'll admit that Toad probably deserves the spot moreso than Bowser Jr as he has seniority and it wouldn't be fair to exile him for a newer character but I still like what Bowser Jr brings to the table.

I can just see myself having so much fun playing as Bowser Jr and using his paint brush. Even if he doesn't transform into Shadow Mario, I'll still be satisfied if he uses that brush and it is implemented well. That's not to say I can't have fun playing as Toad. In fact, Toad seems like a really great character to me. I just see more potential with Bowser Jr.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys enjoy the poll. =)

So off the subject was Bowser jr. more of a true villain than his father was? Because even though my boy koopa is my fav. Nintendo character they seemed to have turned him into a bumbling fool.

In New Super Mairo Bros., Bowser Jr. was the main villain, while Bowser was the final boss.
