I do. I can't get to a lot of tourneys, so I try to improve over it.

My statement was meant at "most smashers".

I'll let you know if it helps me in the future, but Wifi has the same concepts of offline play (minus input lag). It shouldn't make you worse.

But....It's not making you worse either...

Are you really trying to improve? Like, after each game, are you thinking, "What could I have done to avoid that, get that kill, etc. I should've done X move instead of that" and if you win, you should ask yourself what you could've done to get a better lead, see if you need to space better, zone better, stop doing risky manuvers, you get the idea. Unless you put some thought into it, you won't get better.

Second, fight people who are better than you. Playing someone you 2-3 three stock consistently won''t help you much. Go to AiB and do some ladder and see where you end up, then just keep fighting people who are better than you.

Do you go to tournaments LP?

Went to my first offline tournament, it magnified the major flaws of Online play.
I didn't say it made you worse, i said it shouldn't make you a lot better.
May i point out that this is completely opinionated.

I was really asking btw.
I gave you an answer...

If you want to hear something more, i'd be referring to someone with a terribad connection; Which you don't have to worry about offline?

I thought you meant that there are flaws with trying to improve by playing online and then taking what you learned there offline.

Of course Online's going to have lag and such, but it's still the same game as offline smash. If you try to improve on one, you're going to improve on the other (unless you're already as best as you can possibly be)

Not necessarily. I know people that win online that you'd already know would not be able to come out of 1-2 sets in an offline tourney.
Do they have to be good players to do so? No they do not. It is most definitely not the same as offline, even if you're playing with a Blue connection.

If you try to improve on one, you're going to improve on the other
Wi-fi helps in getting MU experience, playing people who can't make it to offline tourneys in your region, friendlies and such, but only this. If i wanted to get better at the game, i'd find it much more helpful by attending Smash events and meeting actual people, offline. Not only can they help you in smash, but any issues pertaining to real life events. Once you taste offline, i assure you, you wouldn't be looking to go back to wi-fi anytime soon, or at least as much as you would normally.

I should've been more specific. When I said same game, I meant MU's, general concepts. Wifi can help you get better at the basics, but you're righ in the fact that if you want to really be good, you need to go offline. Lag can make a big difference, but I do agree with your second paragraph.

Once you go to one offline event, you realize just how lacking wifi is.

Not trying to prove you wrong or anything, i was just a tad skeptical when you said "Wi-fi is the same as offline outside of lag"
If you're expecting to win as many matches online as you would offline, you're doing something wrong. There are instances when Wi-fi is better than offline, but only a few, here are some of them:

-SDI is generally easier over Wi-fi

-You can't be gimped as easily since lag can also disrupt timing needed to pull off things such as edge-guarding

-You can KO much much easier since your opponent can't defend themselves as well online, which is why Smash attacks, quick moves, strong moves, and lasting hitboxes are magnified over wi-fi. Anyone with these attributes is considered "A good character over wi-fi."

Along with said flaws to your opponent, you're just about as open to said instances yourself, so you should never think differently.

People feel ashamed because of other people telling them that they aren't good because all they do is spam smashes, which i believe makes them fear going out into a public Smash event, and feeling they will make a utter fool of themselves because they were told they aren't good.
Going into any event with a bland attitude about your gameplay is horrid, and can actually ruin how you show when you make it to a real life tournament. This is why some people just fear to leave wi-fi, because they feel like they aren't ready. You can't decide if you're ready or not if you don't go, it's as simple as this.

Anyway, yes, if you play offline all day and go in for a Smashfest the next day, you'll feel completely deprived of any skill you felt you had, it slows your playstyle down something considerable, but that's just another flaw to add to the books.

Wi-fi isn't all that bad, wi-fi isn't all that good, but it's not there to be something you look forward to every day.
