Sonic Mania is actually a blast from the past! Let's hope that Sonic can keep up quality like this and bring more originality.

You know, I've had a debate with my brothers on why Sonic hasn't been consistent with quality. My older brother would tell me that I am very critical of Sonic while being very forgiving with Mario. I told him that Mario a least has been consistent with the quality of his games whereas Sonic struggled to do so. My younger brother retorts that Mario just keeps putting out the same game while Sonic is bold enough to try something different.

I feel that the reason Mario has been consistent with quality is that he sticks to a working formula while figuring out how to improve upon it while Sonic tried a bunch of different ideas that didn't always work.

Sonic Mania was good because it took what made the classics good and improved upon them, similar to how Mario does things, even if they did feel very samey.

Been playing Sonic Mania.

It gives me one question; is Sonic finally good again?
I'm actually curious about that game. I've seen some footage of it and it looks like it hearkens the series back to its glory days when it was actually good.

...Not saying every modern Sonic game is bad, but even so.
