Well, what'd you think?

And hello, hope you're not as out of it as I am right now.
It felt meta as hell. Like the way the masses reacted to the journal and everything about it could be applied to certain parts of the fandom, and heck, fandoms and even people in general. It definitely felt self-referential more than anything else, though. I mean, there was one pony who literally said "Twilight was better before she had wings!" Any doubt I had was gone after that line.

Meta or not, the ending with the song (which was a pretty great one, by the way) and the two fillies who did genuinely learn something from the journal's lessons, as it was originally intended to teach others, was all pretty heartwarming. And it kinda showed the harsh reality of how "fame" can turn out and how the masses of people may not exactly give positive responses. Differing opinions, different viewpoints, different mindsets, conflicts get started, real people can very well be hurt by how others see and talk about them, etc..... Ack, I could go on about this because stuff like this makes me want to think and talk about it a lot, but I really shouldn't lol. I'd probably just be dragging things out and over-analyzing stuff. Plus, I promised myself that I'd no longer write-up about episodes that didn't amaze or severally disappoint me.

Speaking of episode quality, as far as my opinion on this one actually goes, I did like it overall. I was just kinda hoping I'd see that huge crowd at the end taken care of somehow lol. :p

I need to be focused because I've got some cleaning to do, so thankfully, yes, I'm not out of it. Had a rough or lazy day?

Yeah, it was a pretty strange episode all things considered.

A very unusual message for the show but a good one. You could drag it out further though at what cost? Remember the mantra: It's just a show, I should really just relax.

I liked it too. And I mean, they did say they'd take care of it later. :p
Also, figured I'd say this, my favorite character changed. Can you guess who?

Went to bed real late because I thought racing along with 7 other people on a race stream was a good idea (I wasn't on stream myself). Couldn't sleep and then a loud storm rolled around and made it harder for me to sleep so I woke up later than normal.

It was; I want to say Rarity's freakout was particularly strange, but the show isn't exactly unfamiliar with the idea of one of it's main characters having a freakout lol (thankfully most of them have moved past having such days; not Rarity though, evidently.)

Agreed. And yeah, I'm just gonna leave it where I did in my last post.

True, but I actually really wanted to see it and how lol.

Not the book pony anymore? Hmm. Your new favorite must be one of those two characters from this episode whose faces are mostly obscured in your avatar. :dazwa:

...but seriously, I'm guessing it's Starlight Glimmer?

Well, I know what staying up late with friends can do to one's schedule and their state of mind the following day lol.

Sorry you weren't able to sleep well. Having loud noises around is no help at all. I hope it hasn't messed with your day too badly.

True, though in my case, it was more like just me in my room with me using my Gamepad in front of my computer screen so I could both play the game and watch the stream lol

I've been getting it back together but yeah, a tired me plus a storm is not a good combination for two reasons and you know both of them.

I mean, it's not a show without at least a few freakouts per season.

...sure. Also, this was the best I could do with my avatar lol
And yes.

I've done similar stuff before, but certainly not very often lol. There's been times where I'm trying to focus on a computer game while having a show on in the background that I have just enough interest in to try watching it as I'm in the middle of playing a game.

Hope you can get a better night's sleep tonight at the very least. Have there been any more signs or reports of storms?

Fair enough :p

Not spoiling the rest since a response to the subject of the characters freaking out s pretty much the last potential episode spoiler I have to say here.

I'm not saying it's a bad one. Cropped or not it still works.

Nice. Over time Starlight's become one of my favorites as well, just not quite my absolute favorite. Seeing her in a more recurring role has been really nice, and so far, I've always enjoyed her focus episodes.

Doesn't help I almost got distracted at one point from somebody making a sound equivalent to a buff muscular dude and a bird screaming at the same time. But yeah, it's rare that I do that and I only do it when I have the means to do it.

It's Texas, I dunno if it's gonna be a storm or another day of the blazing sun.

I'm trying to imagine that sound and I don't think I've succeeded. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be trying to imagine it at all....

And makes sense.

Hm, alright.

Thank you. :p

I certainly didn't think she'd be here today after seeing her debut appearance as a villain, lol. I'm glad the writers took her in the direction they did.

I know what it sounds like because I heard it for myself. Screaming while racing can only mean one thing.

She contains all the snark I could ever want out of anybody and is wonderful at the same time. :p

That a Blue/Spiny Shell is coming after the person in 1st place? :dazwa:

Always gotta appreciate a good deadpan snarker.

She really is a great character overall.

But it can also mean death... not in real life.

I always like the characters that are snarky and fun. They're usually the ones that end up high on the favorites list for me.

Same here. I usually enjoy those types of characters, they're not afraid to snark or indirectly call someone out on something (snarking is definitely a type of humor in fiction that I enjoy) but they're still fun and pleasant characters overall.

Don't worry, real life is not the topic here. Honestly, I forgot what we were talking about.

Yeah, they tend to usually bring some levity or add to the madness and that's great.

Racing and a stream, wasn't it?

Agreed. They're always nice to have around for reasons such as those, imo.

Yes, a race stream. Not a race to stream the fastest (yes I went there), a race stream that involves beating games the fastest.
That actually sounds pretty fun. I think I've seen similar game challenges on Youtube before, of course some significant differences there being that the runs take longer and aren't live.

So the moral here is that snarkers are great and Starlight is adorable. :p
Yep yep yep. :p

Like I said, I wasn't on stream, just a viewer. And yeah, those are a thing and there are advantages to those not being live because there's a good chance of getting interrupted while live which considering the person streaming, is bound to happen.

Who was streaming it? (If it was ProtonJon I wouldn't have known, didn't check to see if one was going on last night or not...)

Yup. He got like 6 of his moderators and raced Mario 2 USA and DKC2 (the one I did alongside them). Not the first race stream he's done, the first one had Mario 3 and DKC1 (which I also did alongside them), and the second one had Mega Man X, Mario World Randomizer, and Kirby's Dream Land (both normal and hard mode).

That sounds like some truly chaotic fun. And nice on trying the games alongside their race haha.

This is also yet another reminder that I need to tune in to his Twitch more often...

I know all three race streams are up on Youtube courtesy of somebody else uploading them, you could search up Jon's yt name and then put race and you'll find em real easy. DKC2 went swimmingly for me... mostly. I was actually ahead of everybody and had a lead of 1-2 levels and then I kept dying on the first K. Rool fight and I ended up finishing 12 minutes after 1st place. DKC1, on the other hand... well, I was ahead of three people and close behind one, but I trailed by a fair margin behind 3 other people.

My favorite races are the DKC1 race aka one man goes insane because minecarts, Mario World Randomizer because it is a beautifully stupid race, and DKC2 race because reasons.

Think I'll have to check those out at some point. Sounds like you did pretty good overall on your own attempts, by the way.

The minecart part must be crazy. I've seen those in action in that game before.

Alright, hope you get around to it. Oh, there is going to be some screaming, weird topics, dumb deaths, strange sounds, technical difficulties, guns, and some singing... by multiple people at the same time. And thank you, I'm not quite as good at DKC1 as I am at DKC2, I've played 2 a bunch so I know it well.

If you mean the person going crazy, then yes. Otherwise, the minecarts are really just warm-ups and aren't actually too hard... unless you haven't really played much of the game.

Sounds almost like an average Let's Play to me. :p

You're welcome! And how different is the gameplay apart from the characters? I know the levels are of course totally different, so there's that.

Really? It always seemed like a lot of people had trouble with it from what I've seen, not giving them an exactly positive reputation in that regard.

...although I wouldn't know for sure either way since I regrettably haven't played any of the original 3 games.
