Well, if it's a virus you might be able to get it back. Have you dealt with viruses before?

Regardless, I'm really sorry to hear it. I hope you fix the issue and get the laptop working again as soon as possible.

Well, best of luck with that Uni.
Once it gets fixed, I would recommend some sort of program to protect your computer from a virus if you don't have one already. McAfee has worked nicely with me, especially concerning the site advisory option.
