I still don't think Ryu is Top 5 material.
Yoshi hasn't been making any splashes really nowadays.
Lucario has been doing pretty well in Japan.
Mewtwo has been doing alright too, nowadays. Definitely E or F tier.
The gap between Marth and Lucina is a little too big. She's definitely not bottom 10 anymore.
Otherwise, it looks pretty decent.

Ryu may be weak with recovering, but a lot of his other stats are good. His combo game is especially wicked strong. While Yoshi's popularity has indeed gone down, I still think he has a good enough matchup spread to make him high tier (albeit the lower part of high tier). I also have a bias in the favor of the American metagame, so I'm not too focused on how Lucario is doing in Japan. With Mewtwo, I didn't know he's been doing potentially good enough for E/F tier. With Lucina, I find her extremely basic without a ton of advantages. She's just a weaker, more basic Marth IMO (although, this could be a bit of bias against her because I honestly hate her character in this game).

Fair enough. Even though Roy is seen as being lackluster (including my own opinion), at least Dark Pit's in an ok spot :)
DP is an ok character. He's got decent matchups and stats. However, he doesn't have the tournament results to back him up.

The only time you should feel bad is when your encountered by a "stop having fun" guy who insists tiers are everything and berate for not following the quo. Otherwise most just have fun as they want, competitive and out

Yeah it could be a lot worse. Roy has good power he just has AWFUL recovery. And he could really use a projectile.

LoneKonWolf LoneKonWolf . I meant to say I feel sorry FOR my mains. Stupid autocorrect!

I couldn't have said it better. Even if a character is lower in tier, play with whom you want, Darkpit54 Darkpit54 !

As far as I'm concerned, it's even more honorable and awesome to use a lower tier character than a higher tier character, for obvious reasons.

Yeah I don't really like high tier characters

I prefer more mid-low tier characters except for ZSS and Sonic

A10theHero A10theHero I'm curious as to why you've said Mewtwo's been getting good enough for E/F tier. What tournaments have you seen to give you that opinion?

Ryu's combos, again, depend on him being close to his opponent. You shut him out, you shut down his combos. That's why characters like Megaman can give him a hard time. Yoshi's matchup spread is decent at best imo. Maybe the the top of mid tier but I don't see him much higher than that. Honestly, I see no reason to ignore international tournaments. It's not like in Melee where the version of the games are different. They are just as useful for seeing what a character can do. Many of Mewtwo's great results are coming from Japan and he has Mew^2 and Blue here in the states doing pretty well. She's not basic. What gave you that idea? She literally is Marth without his tipper. At least she's more consistent with her damage output as a result. The tipper doesn't make that big of a difference. You're not gonna be consistently landing hits with it since Marth doesn't really have something to help him space perfectly.

Too soon for tier lists...
Well we need something from which we can begin discussion. When it is the "right" time, it'll be easier to construct a list.

The reason why I called her basic was in comparison to Marth. Marth has a tipper while Lucina doesn't, so that's why I called her basic. She's a little easier to get used to at a beginner's level.

BTW I wasn't trying to ignore tournaments in other countries entirely. I simply don't know a lot of tournament data in Japan, so I don't really focus on results in Japan. Maybe "bias" was the wrong word to use concerning American vs. Japanese tournaments.

The tipper doesn't make much of a difference anyways. Marth has no known method of consistently hitting with the tip of his sword. He doesn't have a movement option to help adjust his spacing quickly. Thus, it won't be used consistently. For that reason, there shouldn't be such a huge gap between the two.

I just looked at MSC's video on perfect pivoting and Marth gets about 3.5 squares worth of movement from his perfect pivot.
I guess that's not enough?

BTW where can I see more results of Japanese tournaments to see a better picture of your opinion?

SHI-G. Their YouTube channel has tournament videos. Their website has info about their tourneys. They also periodically release tier lists. (Mewtwo is considered mid tier there and for good reason, lol)
Also, non-Japanese top players talk about them quite a bit on Twitter and such, especially when there's something interesting (like a Lucario main winning a tournament). And if you follow some top Japanese players like Ranai, then you naturally hear more about their meta too.
