HEY EVERYONE! NEW BIOSHOCK GAME!

Bioshock Infinite is a prequel to the original game that's about a detective who is on a search for a young woman. The catch? She's been taken up to a city in the sky called Columbia. When the detective arrives, it turns out that things are not going well (no duh) and what starts as a search-and-rescue mission quickly becomes one of survival as he and the girl must escape from the insane inhabitants of Columbia.

Check it out here: http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1111864p1.html

I personally think that this game has so little to do with Bioshock in terms of story that they might as well have made it a spiritual successor like Bioshock was to System Shock. But to each his own.

Thoughts?

Looks good, especially since it's being made by the same people who made the first BioShock.

I'm waiting for someone to do an in-depth analysis of the trailer.

Don't. It really isn't worth your time.
This.

This game is set in the early 1900's (Keep in mind, BEFORE the events of Bioshock), and the city is called "Columbia". As you can see, it's a city in the sky, opposite to Rapture being under the sea. It was primarily built as a haven for so-called "Patriots", and is home to some obvious unfriendly characters.

Official Site: http://www.bioshockinfinite.com/main.php

Synopsis: "BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.
Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities."

I've heard the following:

At the end of Bioshock Infinite, the city in the sky crashes into the ocean (Turning into Rapture) and you take the role of Andrew Ryan.

Who knows? It's plausible.

I doubt it, it conflicts with too much of the cannon supplementary material and some parts of Bioshock 2. I doubt that they'd throw all of that cannon out the window just for that twist.

Plus (from what we've seen) Columbia really doesn't look like rapture at all.

I wonder if somehow they'll use this game to fit Bioshock into System Shock continuity... I doubt it (although It'd be awesome).

In Bioshock 2, during the ride in Ryan Amusements, it shows how they specifically built it underwater. Though, it could be propaganda. Where'd you here that, Mr. F8AL?

It could be, but if I recall there are a number of logs throughout both games by people who helped build rapture. Although if they really wanted to put in that twist they could cheaply retcon them into being under the influence of plasmids or whatever.

Where'd you here that, Mr. F8AL?
It's the internet, people will start making theories based off of what little information that games have withing minuets after the game's first trailer.

But seriously, I'm curious to know where you found that.

Aparently, the woman in the trailer with the roses, is Elizabeth, whom you have to rescue from Columbia. And your name in the game is "Booker DeWitt" so... Name change?

Maybe... it doesn't sound like something I'd imagine happening.

I honestly hope that they don't have Columbia crash into the sea as a cheap way to tie this prequel into Bioshock continuity. As I said, I'd rather It'd be spiritual successor and the true Bioshock sequel let you witness Rapture falling into it's current state of decay.

Here's more proof

Bioshock Infinite>1912
and...
Rapture is MADE>1946
So it's impossible.

Maybe Ryan drew inspiration from Columbia?
Who knows...
but 2012 is TOO LONG OF A WAIT.

You know what would be an insane twist? If it turns out that you are Andrew Ryan and that Elizabeth ends up becoming the basis for the Little Sisters...

I just noticed that the game is coming out exactly 100 years after when it takes place....

Still, TOO LONG. NEED NAO!

IF YOU DIDN'T NOTICE, BIOSHOCK 2 PULLED A LOT OF BULL**** LIKE THAT TOO. I'll CITE some EXAMPLES when I'm more AWAKE while randomly emphasizing WORDS that have NO meaning.

AND YES. Cap locks is cool.

Lol I like this guy.

Bioshock 2 was... pretty disappointing. The only things I enjoyed were the last bit of the game. Granted, some of the parts in Bioshock were pretty tedious, but... I digress.

But...SKYYYYYYYYYYYY.
There's gonna be some amazing scenery in this game. Anyone's thoughts on if it'll be Better or worse than the original?

I saw this trailer, looks amazing. And yeah, since it's by the makers of the first one, that means it'll be good.

Already looks like the scenery is amazing, but I kind of liked the gloomy, dark aspect of the original bioshock, so I donno how that'll play out. It made you feel alone, this one kind of looks cheery, but then again I haven't played it so I don't know.

I'm most curious to know if this game will have a story that relates to the first game. I'm a sucker for the storylines in these games.

Just because the trailer shows happy-sunshine-fun land, doesn't mean there won't be scenes with violent storms and hurricans.

This game looks like it'll be amazing; I'll definitely get it on day 1.

Aren't the original devs making it? That by itself makes this better than Bioshock 2 (which I've only played a bit of).

I really, really hope that the graphics engine gets a bit of an upgrade for this game.

I personally think that the cheery and marvelous scenery of Columbia will be an excellent contrast to whatever horrific secrets that the city hides.

But that's just me.

I still haven't beaten the 2nd one. I always tell myself to go play it, but I just pop in MW2. It's just not as appealing as the first game because it's the exact same thing but it's old now. The first one was this fresh new crazy idea, and the 2nd one is no different which makes it boring.

I like the new look to this game, but I just hope it keeps my interest. They need to switch stuff up.

Multiplayer Not Guaranteed For BioShock Infinite

http://kotaku.com/5617852/multiplayer-not-guaranteed-for-bioshock-infinite

I REALLY hope they don't include multiplayer in this game. I heard it's pretty bad (with unlock codes) in Bioshock 2's multiplayer. Nothing like adding on unnecessary components to games these days!
It wasn't BAD. It just wasn't good...
I'm currently playing Bioshock (1) right now because of the new Bioshock. I figured it was time to finish that game, and amazing it is.

Infinite looks so good, even though it's just a teaser right now.
Huzzah.

I like how the main character talks now. It's helped flesh out the story elements in games so much in the past.

(I'm being sarcastic if you couldn't tell)
