I really don't think that means anything. Sakurai has said himslef that we will likely be using gamecube controllers, and that one might even come packaged with the game.

You likely will still be able to use a Wiimote Nunchuck combo to play SSBB, but with no motion sensing.

Also, isn't it annoying now that the same old topics are being made again and again by people who believe they have discoverd new insight.

I'm still woundering why some people believe that this game will be played with GC controller and GC controller only. Obviosuly it won't be as that would allienate a large number of players.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand again.
It will be Wii-mote compatible and quite possibly Classic Controller compatible, AND GC-controller compatible because Sakurai won't alienate those used to the GC one but also can't bother Nintendo to start distributing GC controllers again for one single game.

My theory.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to use the Wiimote for alot of side things like maybe other game modes but I think like other games they'll let you use either the classic controller or the gcn controller for the main fighting modes. And like someone already said I think the Wiimote icon might just be there to show it's for the Wii or something.

look at how to play it has a Wii mote for its icon.
Woah, you're right, this is an amazing find! I guess Sakurai was just lying all those times when he said "the wii-mote will not be used in standard play". He must've been trying to throw us off. Sakurai, you sneaky little mastermind.

This board is going to hell in a handbasket overnight. I don't envy the mods. XD

I, personally think all three controllers (Wiimote, Classic, GC) can or will be used. It'd save me on buying new GC controllers for sure. Classic and GC is obvious I guess the Wiimote could be used sideways, A for A, B for B, 1 for Jump, 2 for L/R functioning. It's really gimped compared to the other two, but I suppose it's SOMETHING.

Well, Nintendo has said themselves that they are considering redistributing the Gamecube controllers..
I just wish I could remember the source.. :ohwell:

Meh, things are getting lost in rotation. . .

IGN
"Under the direction of series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature classic, GameCube-style combat -- not Wii-style motion-controlled combat. That means players who prefer to play the game with the traditional control setup can look forward to using the GameCube control-style they're already accustomed to.

"We found that trying to implement too much motion-sensory functionality can get in the way of the game. We're looking at keeping the control simple, as it has been," said Sakurai. "The Wii hardware has sockets for the GameCube controller, too. So I'll just say now that you may not want to throw away your GCN controller yet.""

MMMMOOOOOTTTIIOOOON Controlls!!! Last time I checked the Wiimote+ Num C has enuff buttons to act as a reg controler.

God. . . I have not the slightest idea as to why people assume it will be GC controls only. Seems most logical to assume its going to use Wiimote+ Num C/ CC/ GC controls seeing as it can be done with all of them.

It should just be between the Gamecube controllerot that classic controller, as for that icon I believe he may of put it there because it's a Wii title of course

Visiting from above.
Actually, I win.

And by win, I mean lose, because I have to waste my time closing all of these BS topics about the same d*** thing.
