Despite being commercially successful and beloved, I believe Banjo Kazooie is still quite underrated by certain sections, people don't realise how huge they were back in the day nor do they realise how big of a deal Rare working with Nintendo were and the success that followed. I think some people put them in the Tonic Trouble and Glover basket, of being mediocre, kiddy looking games which are forgettable. I think it's unfair to sink the boot in and play down their legacy because of the difficulties of the Rare buyout and Microsoft. These retailed N64 bundles released in Europe and Australia speak volumes as to how BK were perceived by their masters so to speak, back in the day:

Imo both BK games are the epitome of classic 90s 3D platformers, creative, charming, challenging, colourful and comical. Comparing to others, for me DK64 is too bloated, quantity over quality and Mario 64, while iconic is a bit on the plain side.
K. Rool getting in is a great sign for BK and I hope that the Bear and Bird get their chance, it would be surreal to see them and it would be fully deserved.
Fun fact: The first console bundle in the picture is known as the Spotlight Edition, and can sell for over $900 Aussie dollars!
