I wish I had such a selfless view. I am quite indifferent towards Geno but I'd be happy to see him in just because it would help characters like Banjo and Isaac. But one thing it is amazing how one game or two can garner such passion for characters among fans. Shame everyone can't get their characters in Smash when you think like that.

Its a bummer- but at the same time, if the screen were completely full of characters I did not know, I would not appreciate smash as much. If I were just joining the series now, and didnt get introduced to so many through Smash/speculation, I would not appreciate it as much. I remember when the first five characters for Brawl were revealed- Metaknight, Wario, Pit, Snake, Zero Suit Samus- I said... "Oh... uh... sure."
Literally I only knew Wario and Metaknight. And neither seemed super vital to me (who usually wanted new series but still didnt know the greatest variety of new series).

Your not alone man. i think that would be an unexpected character that many wouldn't know they want until he came out. I loved those cute little platformers and do hope namco bandai brings it back someday!

^^^^ Couldn't agree more, I've wanted Banjo since Brawl and I'm keepin my hype low just in case it doesn't happen. Just went to pick up my copy of Mortal Kombat. Was caught totally off-guard by this sickeningly adorable plush just hanging off a rack by itself. I wasn't even aware they were still being made lol. This, the coin, the Totaku and the F4F exclusive make four. Now all I need is that sweet sweet amiibo to make it a perfect five.

First it was only Papagenos' source that said Banjo would be in and it was a minority for sure, now there's more insiders saying it and we have MS games coming to Switch. It's crazy...

Banjo deserves getting into Smash big time.. I know some people get all bent out of shape by the term "deserves" but I could care less... he and his franchise has been hardcore neglected (I'm not saying it's the only one). This thread has more than enough evidence to show how he went from an A+ mascot on the 64 to a relic now. It's a shame....

Really Rare itself is in the same boat as much as the new guys there probably don't see it that way... they went from being one of the top developers in gaming to being MS's Avatar department and now are a shadow of what they once were.. Banjo getting into Smash would be a celebration of Rares great past with Nintendo. For the fans who remember Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, etc. It would bring back great memories and cement a huge part of Nintendo history into the pages of Smash. Regardless of what the future holds for Banjo him getting in would re-introduce him to a whole new generation of fans and who know's where he could go from there. It worked for K. Rool I've seen little kids with K. Rool Amiibo in their hands walking around, he's my nephew's favorite character.. a character who 5 years ago was literally nowhere to be found. Hoping Banjo gets the same treatment.

Its funny you mention nephews and Rare, I'm always talking with my nephew who's actually turning 7 tomorrow about Nintendo, he recently got a 3DS for either his birthday or Christmas last year and I had gotten him Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS, so he has a pretty good idea what the games are about and why his uncle (me) loves them so much. So when the topic of who I would want in Smash Bros. came up, I showed him the intro to Banjo-Kazooie, and he thought it was amazing! A six-turning-seven year old loving a goofy cartoon bear and bird seems so obvious, but unless they get exposure, new generations of gamers won't appreciate what made them so great! I also showed my nephew the trailers for characters like Ridley and K. Rool and he wanted to play as them so badly in his game (sadly he doesn't have a Switch yet, but I'm hoping to change that by this Christmas lol). I'm not saying Banjo & Kazooie are gonna get in, but it'd be crazy with everything going on lately and the odds increasing in their favor if they didn't get in at long last. Nintendo & Microsoft, like most any video game studio willing to work with Sakurai and Smash, would do nothing but profit from getting their characters in. As part of the Fighter Pass, which I assuredly would buy the whole thing if Banjo & Kazooie get announced as one of the slots, and with freaking amiibos, which I would order as soon as they got announced!

My niece stopped by for a visit a few months back (she's 8) and she saw me playing Banjo-Kazooie. She immediately sat down and watched intently for only a few minutes before she started to beg for a turn. I had to explain to her that the part I was at (the bear vs bear sled race at Freezeezy Peak) gave me a bit of trouble when I was 12. After I finished it, however, I took it back to Spiral Mountain and handed her the controller. The way her face lit up when she did her first roll and heard that classic gu-whoo? Priceless

If we were able to be taken in so much by the series when we were kids, the little ones today are just as likely to form a bond with the series. Plus I don't have a lot of knowledge on the subject, but how do rights aquisitons work in games like this? Im under the impression that Phil's tweets and willingness to work with Nintendo would make the Banjo-Kazooie IP cheap and easy to acquire for use.

All the DK games are generally available elsewhere on previous eShops, so I don’t mind if they’re not included. The main game I really want to see is the original Diddy Kong Racing with Banjo and Conker.

A new tune in sea of theives using a Banjo as a main instrument. Who am I kidding it means everything Banjo in Smash confirmed.

It's not too terribly expensive these days. I know the game can be bought for around $20 or so at most older gaming shops and seems to be about that price on Ebay. You could probably either wait to see if a good deal pops up on Ebay, or poke around gaming shops to see how they have it priced. If you're going really cheap, check local thrift stores or yard sales if they're in your area. You're not always guaranteed to find what you're looking for, but you're best chance of finding the game sub $5 will probably be in that field of things.

On a similar note, I've actually spent a good deal of my Easter break playing Banjo Kazooie on the Rare Replay collection. I had never actually gone through the game and tried for everything, so that's what I've been doing. I've finished the first seven worlds completely, so I know I'm near the end. It has been such a blast to play through the game, but it's also been quite a bit shorter than I remember it being when I played as a kid (Which is honestly probably for the best, too many games end up overstaying their welcome these days, 8 hours into Banjo Kazooie and I've never been bored once). I'll be finishing it up fairly soon, but damn, I forgot just how much pure fun the game could be.
