I can't for the life of me find the source link to those Rainbow Curse comics. I know that they are indeed official and may have come from Japan's Nintendo News website. They're featured in some articles as well from Japanese gaming sites when searching Rainbow Kirby. I highly doubt gaming sites would showcase these comics if they weren't from Nintendo.

It's nice to see how they are supporting Bandana Dee more than we are over here, seeing as how their support probably counts more towards his inclusion.

What I'm worried about though, is if they are counting the ones that are saying "Waddle Dee" as a different character..

Even though it's a very small poll, it's really cool just how much support there is for BWD.

I honestly believe he's the biggest underdog in DLC right now. Apparently a lot of people want him but no one is really speaking up for him.

From what I hear though... K.Rool and DK in general isn't as popular in Japan as it is in America. It's kind of a reverse BWD situation.

To be fair, this was an entirely Japanese poll.

King K. Rool being a fairly old Rare-rooted character, is tied to western creation which is a bit less fondly taken on their shores.

Notice how none of this information is sourced? Don't believe everything you hear on the internet. You're doing yourselves a disservice by parroting these results as fact. Based on this particular poll, Mario, Pokémon, Kirby, Zelda and Donkey Kong are the most popular Nintendo franchises in Japan among both demographics. Which shouldn't really come as a surprise to anybody, except maybe the diehard Fire Emblem fans who like revising history. The Donkey Kong Country cartoon was very popular in Japan, and it even inspired its own trading card game.

Just sent a ballot vote your way. Dee's really been on my mind as of late, as he's really proven himself to be a mainstay in Kirby. Return to Dreamland, Triple Deluxe, and Rainbow Curse show he's not a one-and-done character. And with Waddle Dee's taken out of Dedede's moveset, with the exception of his entrance animation, i don't see why Dee can't make it in. Plus, he's adorable.

The ballot could also be a way for Sakurai to get ideas from characters that may not have enough votes but they caught Sakurai's attention and then he's like:
- "This character is perfect for Smash!"

I don't think he would glance over K. Rool like that, an I definitely believe that he'd consider Bandana Dee as well. He might not be connected to Kirby anymore, but deep down, I feel that he still appreciates his puffball. However, it does worry me that it's been said that just because it can be number one in the ballot, doesn't mean it's guaranteed...
