You misread. I love Rundas, he's my most wanted newcomer (come at me). I said who in their right voted for Wart and Fi?Well, people want another Metroid rep and Ridley isn't likely to happen (inb4 too big) so Rundas is the next on the list

Might? He's been one of the most requested characters for a while now, and has had a large fan following since Return to Dreamland. We know we have a chance. A rather large one, at that.At least we know non-game characters will be ignored. So this guy might not ever get his wish.

Dark Matter isn't that obscure. He's been in more games that most other villains in the franchise and gets referenced or alluded to fairly often. His latest appearance was in Mass Attack in one of the mini-games (in his swordsman form). I'd say he's the second best candidate for a Kirby representative after Waddle Dee. I think he'd make a better character but Waddle Dee is still far more relevant and likely.
Swordsman is specific and particular to DL2 though and most folks who haven't played DL2 may know that or more casual fans of the series. Swordsman is a particular Dark Matter entity, than there's just general Dark Matter and Zero and than Zero-two... They're tied but I don't think that they are just one thing either but a variety of related entity working together... Dark Matter has shown up more than once but Swordsman only once other than that mini game.
No. Amaterasu, Boy & Blob, and maybe even Ray Mk III are obscure. A reoccurring character in a popular series of games is not.
You think you've got it bad, Jigglypuff (the only Amiibo I still care about other than Dr. Mario) is now a Target exclusive. Remember how wonderfully Target handled Rosalina? All I know is, by the end of it, I will walk out with that posing pink puff, be it the easy way, or the fun way.

The Shrek craze spread like wildfire with an insanely inappropriate story featuring him on I believe it was 4chan.

They could do that if you are playing as Walugi you can't get the Waluigi assist trophy, but I doubt they would do that, we'll just have to wait until smash 5!
This is exactly what I think. Nintendo is just seeing what would be a popular ENOUGH option but also possible. They're going to narrow it down to which fighter has the most viable possibility of a moveset, they'll probably more likely pick their own characters and not a third party outside maybe companies they're working with closely (or maybe not at all), non video game character suggestions will be thrown out, etc.
If the demand is high enough, yes.
So Amaterasu's 9 votes can actually mean something. My dream is alive.
