I mentioned that the Kirby series has rising popularity, especially after the success of the new games and the celebration of Kirby's 20th anniversary. I mentioned that Bandana Dee is a perfect candidate as he can represent those games as well as having increased roles as seen in Returns to Dream Land and Rainbow Curse. I said that he has a lot of potential with his spear and ability writes the moveset for him. While he is a Waddle Dee, there is a lot of potential for him.

Kirby is a big series. Bandana Dee has become a recurring mainstay in the series and his species are an icon. He is arguably the 4th important character in Kirby and the first 3 made it in Smash. If an illogical or already used character makes it to the top, they'll likely just pick the next most popular fighter that would actually make sense or be possible.

Bandana Dee might be one of their top choices.
However, according to this thread, Japan is more focused on returning veterans than newcomers. I expect characters like Wolf, Roy, Snake, and the Ice Climbers will be dominant over there.

I wanna spread the love and support for the Dee. I just hope it can make an impact.

I do think that these 4 veterans have a decent chance:
-They have more time, therefore they can implement the Ice Climbers. If not, we might get a solo Ice Climber.
-Snake is a third party character, but he might be requested enough to be put in. However, Nintendo might prevent this due to issues with Konami or because he goes against the E10 rating (a trophy was removed for this reason).
-Roy is one of Japan's more requested characters it seems. He has popularity thanks to Melee and he could be decloned a bit, but I don't think he could happen after Lucina.
-Wolf is the biggest threat. A lot of people will vote for him because of his popularity, the fact that he was a unique fighter, and because he was the most popular and important Nintendo character that was cut. Out of all of the veterans, I expect Wolf to get the most.

Young Link doesn't have a major one after Toon Link and Pichu, Squirtle, and Ivysaur might not make it in after Mewtwo.

Yeah my greatest fear is that the poll just means that popular returning characters get back on the roster. It's a hassle to program and design a character from scratch. I'm sure it take more time with a character that's entirely unique. So far we have upcoming DLC for Mew-two, and Lucas. One already had a design concept and moveset concept existing in the previous Melee... and Lucas is simply returning from Brawl...

Wolf seems like the highest likely next new comer and would also be easier to plop in. If that ends up being the trend, I'd expect already designed and conceived characters being the most likely DLC we get and it'd be a shame if that's all the Poll turned out to be... a way to judge what returning content deserves to even return to the most....

hopefully that's not the case.

my greatest fear now is if this is just a popularity contest I know it is. But you know what I mean like say we get a crap ton of votes for daisy, wolf, snake, you know the BIG character that a lot of people know about. for me and BWD it feels like he might get left in the dust which I hope does not happen. He is Big in his own right but I remember he is was ranked a B list character compared to A list ones like K Rool, or Isaac. but in the end the game will still be fun. "In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, this character was a playable character who could be chosen by players 2-4. He already has strong potential for various attacks using his spear, including a recovery move, and his alternate colors can include the yellow and green versions of himself that are playable in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. That Nintendo Direct just got better and better as it went on. Mewtwo looks amazing. we have a release date for him now. and then LUCAS COMES OUT OF NOWHERE! OMG I have my main back

If we all band together and let our voices be heard Sakurai will have to listen to us. sure other characters like Wolf and K.Rool have larger louder fanbases. but let's do it for the underdog.

The rest of the Direct in Australia was awesome too. finally a release for Azure Striker Gunvolt. and the new Amiibo for Yoshi's Wooly World look adorable.
